Geo1966
As you all know many AFV's have fire extinguishers visible on the exterior of the vehicle. I am wondering what colours these would generally be as kit manufactures seem to have various opinions. Would there have been a standard colour for German, British and US vehicles? Also would this differ if they were mounted internally or externally? Thanks in advance for your advice. George
Longbow
I know German ones were either the main hull color, or painted over with camo, or, as some photos show, black, with black brackets.
Kingsman
Well they certainly weren't red! WW2 US and British ones were generally the tank colour of the day: OD for US and KG3/SCC2/SCC15 for UK. Except for the early war British Pyrene type which were bare brass more often than not. White stencilled markings on a black background. US extinguishers on UK Lend-Lease vehicles might or might not have been repainted. German, as noted, Panzergrau or Dunkelgelb. Russian, no idea but most likely 4BO. Post-war British extinguishers remain green to this day, initially Deep Bronze Green now a sort of NATO green. In the days of shiny post-war tanks I believe the US used red b ut n ow uses the current OD. 1
