098 - Morane Saulnier MS.230

Another Heller classic!   Is this the only kit available of this type in 1/72?

The MS.230 was a basic trainer used by the Armée de l'Air throughout the 1930s.  It was sort of the French equivalent of the Tiger Moth, just with fewer wings. :D

The kit is from 1967 but this boxing is from 1980.

The decals seem to be showing their age.  I should be able to replace the roundels.

This is a nice little kit, I made the SMER boxing as a Luftwaffe trainer many, many years ago, I remember the build with some fondness so I can't have made a complete hash of it.

Good to see this one in the GB, something slightly more unusual.

Have you had a chance to make a start on this one yet ?

I have indeed!

The cockpit interior was painted with the first blue grey paint that came to hand.  I used the kit seats and added some seatbelkt from Eduard.  The instrument panels are from Yahu, originally intended for the Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann  *

Once agaoin, this goes together quite quickly.

Primed with my usually grey auto primer from a rattle can

The green was sprayed with Lifecolor UA-245  Sammaleenvihrea No 2 Moss Green (I really hope I have that right!)   This colour has a rather grey look which seems just right.  I have masked of the natural metal areas ready for spraying.

Hi Enzo,

So far so good. Heller also did a kit of the MS 225 which was a faily similar fighter, but I have yet to see one in this GB for whatever reason.

A bit of work done to the engine and undercarriage.  The natural metal bits were simply sprayed with an auto paint rattle can.

The moment of truth.  The wing was added.

Hi Richard,

I must have seen this build but I am blowed if I remember it - getting old!.  Heller certainly did some nice subjects.

Nice MS.230 Enzo! Looking good, and has now convinced me I have to build one of these myself.

For this GB ? :wicked:

After all you are leading the completion in the gallery !

That's seriously not going to last. Either @TonyOD, or @Bjorn with his entire Heller Swedish Air Force will soon be at the top spot. I'm merely having my Andy Warhol 15 minutes. 🤣
