simmerit
Set as a build challenge on ARRSE to see if I could bang out something decent for a tenner, this beauty was won on eBay for under a tenner. Being a bit OCD, it had to be done so I did my best to make something of this kit and turned out something that is semi respectable given its scale challenges. Anyway - here it is and in open air! The canopy is done now as per the first snap, and yep - the roundels are a bit big, but what the hell. I had fun doing it and that's what its all about
Stew Dapple
I can't help myself, I love looking at built Starfix kits... You've made an excellent job of what you started with, nice work Cheers, Stew
keith in the uk
Reminds me of those decoy planes that were put up to fool the recon aircraft , nice job.
Richard Cawsey
Rivets as far as the eye can see - that takes me back. . .
TonyW
HMS Spitfire looks the business to me! A very refreshing, fun build.
tomkil
Love it. Though the comment above about it resembling a decoy job is on the mark!
Toryu
Wonderful! It would be a worthy contender for this chat - I like the box-like cowling - might have a Napier Sabre under the hood...
redcap
Kudos for having the courage to tackle it mate and get a good result from it . Gary
simmerit
for those brave enough to venture there https://www.arrse.co.uk/community/threads/starfix-kits.299602/ The build!
Shorty84
Its always interesting to see such kits built, thanks for showing it to us. Surprisingly it doesn't look as bad as I imagined (I mean the kit, not your skills ). But that cowl, looks quite....boxy. Cheers Markus
kapam
Must admit, I'm not familiar with the brand. Looks like a Spitfire though - one with mild acne perhaps! Nicely done, 👍
Jackson Duvalier
That must be the most effort ever invested in a Starfix kit, I'll have the Guinness people come round to confirm. 🙂 2

Mike
You certainly did your best to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but there's only so much that a mere mortal can do without the application of arcane magic and some promisory notes against one's soul. Mind you don't catch yourself on those rivets!
Duncan B
So that's the legendary Starfix Spitfire. Show's what I know about Spitfires as I don't think it looks bad at all . Great to see someone just building whatever they have just for fun and hang the rivet counters. Sometimes I really wish we could all treat the hobby as we all did back in pocket money days so well done for showing us how to just relax and enjoy our great hobby. bigbadbadge
Well done for having a go, I have never seen a Starfix kit built up Great work. Chris
opus999
You made that look quite nice! I'm a member of the Starfix-survival club having built their Spitfire Mk. XIV (well, that's not really what they called it, but that's what it became!). As with yours the scale on mine varied between something like 1/46 to 1/57 depending on where you measured. nicely done!
Space Ranger
If you squint real hard it does somewhat resemble a Spitfire. But it is well built.
busnproplinerfan
Think you should be given a promotion to the dept. of something for building this.
