Alvis Saladin Armoured Car Mk2 1/35 by Dragon.

The colour scheme is from, "A Squadron. The Queens Own Hussars. From the year 1966. I've finished it, as it might appear in a present day museum.

I have to say that I have really enjoyed building this, it went together really well and the detail is very good. I received lots of very knowledgeable help with my questions, I can always rely on the folks on this forum, to answer my dumb questions. The only fault I can find is the instructions, not quite as accurate as they should have been, nothing too bad but they did keep me on my toes.

Jon.

Great work. Takes real skill to do an 'as new' model and not rely on mud & pigments to cover up mistakes like I do!

Very kind. Not too sure about the ‘real skill’ , but thanks .

Sorry mate, forgot to add that, blame the football. Does it need painting dark metal colour or is it supposed to be hull colour. If the second ignore my ignorance.

I wondered about that, of all the info, film and pictures (much from Britmodellers) I have, some had black barrels and some had the same colour as the bodywork. So 🤷

Would look nice next to a Saladin? Loverly model great finish

I guess you mean Saracen ? And I couldn’t agree more, but as far as I can find out, nobody makes a 1/35 scale Saracen.

Isn’t Dragon doing one? If you want to splash out though Accurate Armour and Firing line models do them in resin.

This is bravery, you have a genuine set of cojonas. I really like this approach. As said before; battered and weathered vehicles have an appeal but so do these pristine ones. Same with the so called naked models, the unpainted ones. This is fresh. Awesome.

Cheers,

Ernst.

That picture was from 2018, nothing has appeared yet. So I guess nothing will.

I’m not really into resin.

I’ve never thought of not painting, now that is a thought. Bloomin’ hard I imagine.

To be honest, I find it easier to make them look new than weathered. I’m never happy with weathering, it’s a definite art and way beyond my skill level.

Hi Jon,

Weathering can be an art in an of itself and also an excuse but if performed appropriately i don't mind, it's the end result that counts. One day i hope to do a pristine russian tank on the moscow parade some day. But I'll take my time for that. These so called 'naked models' (a google search might take you outside the realm of plastic modeling) , I've seen some on expo's , there's little room for error. Similar with pristine. I like the variety in approaches.

Cheers,

Ernst.
