Greece to buy the Dassault Rafale

Interesting pairing of Rafale and Greece. The latter somewhat cash strapped or so the news would have us believe and the former not noted for many overseas sales (India, Egypt and Qatar)

Perhaps more than I first thought once I looked :hmmm:

Its politics... and Turkey the bad guy....

And then it also makes some sense, as the Mirage 2000 BGM is getting old and of less use... the Hellenic airforce has a large Squadron worth of French jets for many years and fared good with this.... first Mirage F1, then Mirage 2000 BGs then Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 ... so Rafale fits well....

I assume Meteor will be part of the deal, at least on the long run...keeping the TuAF at distance....

Greece was to buy 60 Eurofighters for many years, but financial problems put that on hold... they went for more F-16s instead...

Just now, eclipse said:

Mirage 2000EGM/BGM have Exocet capacity, not the Mirage 2000-5 Mk.2... In the recent situation, they could be useful... 😉

That is very true!

I assume though Rafale will have it as well, at least the M does....

Problem is the BGM has not much more.. Magic II, Exocet, probably Mk.82 bombs...never seen though!
