Recommended Posts

Good evening mates,

I'd like to apply with this oldy - Italeri rebox of an old ESCI Matilda in braillescale.

I will represent boxart Matilda from Malta, 1942.

Here are the parts and some additional stuff...

I haven't finished my Hurricane yet! Stop pressuring me! I'm old and slow!

There! Now I'm stressed! Where's my madicine? Ah, here it is.

Looks fun. I'll have a go at a tank one of these days. Don't think I've ever done one, I vaguely remember doing a halftrack when I was a kid though. I'm going to follow this build to see what it's all about.

Well here we are with some "in progress" photos finally...

Tracks were not so hard to apply (having on mind they are rubber ones), but they were a link or two too short, so I had to superglue them to the area that won't be visible after putting sideskirts on their place...

Some ejection pinmarks on those long "planks" above the wheels were filled with circular cutouts of thin styrene.

Metal barrels of main gun and machine gun are very nicely made and they really bring this part of kit to life.

I'll keep adding on rest of small parts on the hull and turret in the following days, so hopefully primer is not so far away from now.

Cheers and thanks for comments and critiques/suggestions,

S.

I've finally finished adding bits to Matilda, so we're ready for the primer now...

I wasn't happy with how blankets on the turret rack stand, so I added two belts made from thin metal foil to "hold" them.

First part of camouflage is now done - I've mixed Gunze Sail color and Tan to achieve this shade, hopefully it reminds on Light Stone, which I presume was applied on this one - photo shows very light base color.

Now, I'll need some more free time on disposal in order to do those green lines - I didn't decide yet which color to use for brushpainting it - maybe some Gunze shade, and maybe Lifecolor (definitely better for brushpainting).

Cheers,

S.

Camo is done!

Waging beetween few different shades and paint manufacturers, choice has been made to do it with Model Master Acryllic Dark Green.

I've thinned it a bit with Ajax glass cleaning solution, put some chillout music on, and after some 4-5h of painting with thin brush, work is done.

It was a bit boring and slow to do this "stone wall network", but in the end I'm pretty sattisfied with the outcome.

I'll leave it for few days, and then will put few layers of gloss varnish before I put those few decals on.

Have you found where should the part 65B be glued to?

The Italeri manual shows it located over the semi-tubular driver's hatch, but on the Bovington photos it touches the right side of part 64B...

Cheers

Yeah, I was trying to find the location of that part, and on many photos I've been through, I couldn't see something that looks like that part, so I chose to simply ignore it, and finish the build without it.

And actually this "Malta stone wall" camouflage helps in not seeing that part is missing :)

S.

Today was the last day of work on this lady.

I've made a headlight on the turret from the Kristal Klear, and did some weathering with MIG pigments.
