Thank's Ozzy, Yip I have built a few eduard 's bf 109 before, the other extras are eduard exhausts x2, masters mg 17 gun barrels, resin cockpits and wheels x2, and hgw wet decals for the squiggles on the camouflage for the jg 2 aircraft. Nick

The rear cockpit, nose bulkheads have been fitted to one of the fuselarges to aid alinement the resin exhaust holders have been fitted also.

Cockpit and undercarriage parts were first given a coat of matt black paint

2020-09-17_11-10-09

The undercarriage parts and wheel Wells were then painted rlm 02

2020-09-19_04-17-17

Hi all, here is another update, the cockpits have been finished painted. The fuel line for the drop tank was 1st painted pink then one coat of rlm 04. The rubber Union pipes were painted hunbrol 67. For the seat belts I have used eduard true fabric seat belts for the g-2 and the metal ones which come with the eduard kits.

2020-10-10_05-21-54

For the instrment panels I thave used the coloured etched panels. These were first given a coat of matt varnish, I used a drop of ca glue to tack then together. For the instrment glass I used  Johnson klear this wold also help to glue the panels together

2020-10-10_05-22-09

The cockpits were then fitted to the fuselarges after a bit of more scraping the sides.

2020-10-14_03-48-10

For the rear cockpit decking I used 20" plastic card which I then covered with liquid plastic ( sprue dissolved in liquid cement) when it's fully hardened will be sanded smooth

Hi all, here is another update, I have modified the oil collier to open the cooling flap. I did this by using a modelling knife to cut through the edges of the flap. I then scribed about half way through the inside of the hing line, this was the filled with liquid plastic after been bent into the new posision

2020-10-16_08-19-18

Then was sprayed rlm o2. The oil cooler front have been glued in place

2020-10-25_01-44-14

I have decided to use resin replacement for the supercharger intakes these were grafted onto the base plates of the kit. These were then blended together using filler then given a coat of rlm 02

2020-11-04_04-44-09

The airframe has been glued together. The v joint at the rear of the wings has been filled using liquid plastic.

I have desided to use the g-2 wings on the g-2. As the photo of the jg 77 g-2 looks like it does not have the bulges of the g-4.

2020-10-16_08-19-36

this was then sanded smooth and the panel lines rescribed before a light coat of rlm 02 to check the joint

2020-10-25_01-44-51

2020-11-04_04-42-42

I have had an oppps! moment, some how I have managed to snap the control collum in the cockpit. I have had to use a quick boost replacement

NoHi all, here's the next update. I have been doing the flying surfaces and the wing flaps. I have used resin replacements apart from the inner upper flaps on the g-4,i used the kit parts,. I used stretched sprue for the strengthening ribs on the flaps

2020-11-20_03-13-02

These were then giving a undercoat of rlm 66 before being sprayed rlm 02, the spinners & back plates and props have been given a coat of colour coats rlm 70, the head armour has also been sprayed rlm 66 and the head pad has been painted.

2020-11-20_03-14-43

The ailerons were fitted first then the outer flaps then the inner flaps.

2020-11-20_03-13-39

2020-11-20_03-15-20

On the g-4 I had an issue with the port inner flap being about 10 thou " too narrow. I discovered the wing to fuselarge  was not lined up. But I used a strip of 5 thou plastic card to line the joint up but I also had to extend the flap by adding a strip of 5 thou to the outer edge. So not sure if it was my fault.

2020-11-21_05-28-27

All the flying surfaces and flaps fitted to the g-4.

Hi all, another update, the conopie's have been dipped into clear and the Red dive bombing guides have been put onto the conopie by using red decal film.

2020-11-29_07-16-41

The front and rear have been fitted to the airframes.the rear part on the g-2 needed blended into the rear of the fuselarge but the g-4 did not. Must have been my fault. . Masked and sprayed rlm 66.

2020-11-30_03-41-23

Both airframes have been given a coat of rlm 02 to gave the model a uniform colour ready for the main camouflage schemes. I have left the elivators off the g-2 to make the painting of the fabric control surfaces a darker shade easier.

Hi all, here's another update, I have started to paint the comouflage schemes using xtra color enamels.

I'll start with the g-2.the rlm 78. I have not fitted the oil cooler yet because I have not fitted the mg 131s. These will be fitted after the rlm 79 has been sprayed

2020-12-04_03-48-01

The rlm 79 the demarcation lines were done freehand using a badger 200

2020-12-04_03-47-41

I have sprayed the fabric flying surfaces a darker shade of rlm 79. I used xtra color s rlm79a.

2020-12-04_03-48-30

 Now the g-4.the rlm 76

2020-12-04_03-49-28

Next the upper surfaces were started with rlm 75.

Hi all, here is another update. The jg 77 g-2 . i have added the mg 131's to the upper cowling.

2020-12-15_05-08-29

Theses were added through the lower cowling were the oil cooler sits .after theses were fitted the oilcooler was fitted and blended into the lower cowling. After witch it was sprayed rlm 78 before being masked off and painted rlm 04. I used humbrol 154.

2020-12-15_05-09-52

The theater markings were then masked using tamiya tape. Flixable for the fuselarge .normal for the wing tips. and copidex before sprayed revell white as were the spinners

2020-12-15_05-09-40

2020-12-15_05-10-03

The next step will be top apply the national markings ready for the rlm 80 strips.

As fore the italian g-4. The upper surface pattern looks to be a wnf built aircraft. rlm 74,75 has been sprayed freehand. I think i will adjust the starboard wing a little as not 100% happy with it.

2020-12-15_05-10-15

Also the leading edge demarcation will need fetteling also

2020-12-15_05-10-37

The mottle has been started using a badger 200 g fitted with a fine tip.

2020-12-15_05-11-12

The upper mg 131's  and the oilcooler have been fitted in the same way as the g-2.

2020-12-15_05-10-25

2020-12-15_05-11-01

This will then be sprayed rlm 76 before the rlm 04.

Hi all, the painting continues. The g-2 has had its national marking applied balkenkreuze (kit decals) swastika (xtradecal). Ready for the rlm 80 to be sprayed onto the airframe.

2020-12-23_04-38-18

Most of my time since the last update has been finishing the g-4 camouflage. Using xtracolour enamels for the rlm colours. For the Italian colours  grigio azzuro chiaro 1 & Verde Olivia scrro 2 (I will be using colour coats enamels. The rlm 74 mottle has been spayed and the wing camouflage has been adjusted.

Also the under cowling and theater markings have been masked and sprayed. I have used tamiya tape and pva glue as I have found the pva glue doesn't lift off the paint like tape can.

2020-12-20_06-06-37

The tape has lifted some of the mottle from the radio hatch. I'm not worried thou as the Italian gray will cover it.

2020-12-23_04-36-01

The colour coats Italian gray paint was a bit thick so I used white spirit to  thin it. It was then used to spray over where the luftwaffe national marking were sprayed in the factory. I did think about putting the decals on then over spraying then. But decided to just spray the gray onto the airframe. (The Italian gray is a close match for rlm 76).it is now ready for the Italian green to be mottled over the gray

2020-12-23_04-38-51

2020-12-23_05-10-18

The props have been fitted to the spinner and are ready to be fitted when the airframes are finished.

Hi all, here is another update.I have decided to finish the g-4 then the g-2.

I have had issues with silvering on the upper wing Italian markings. The first thing I tried was coating them with Johnson clear then cutting the silvered area with a modelling knife blade. A coat of matt varnish. Better but still silvering! So I touched up the silvering with paint another coat of varnish

2021-01-08_02-20-05

The exhausts have been painted humbrol 70. The weathered with grafite and ground black pastels

2021-01-08_02-21-52

For the underwing mg 151s I have decided to have one open so have used eduard's underwing gun pods

These have been sprayed with a different tin of rlm 76 mg 151 have been given a coat of humbrol 53 then a wash of black then rubbed with grafite. Brake lines have been added to the undercarriage legs using copper wire.

2021-01-08_02-21-24

The brake lines were then painted rlm 02 and the rubber pipes humbrol 67.the exhausts and undercarriage legs were then fitted to the airframe

2021-01-08_02-20-30

This is were I had a norther issue when I went to drill out the barrels a bit more. The drill slipped and split the side of the barrel arrrr!  So I decided to use brass barrels

2021-01-08_02-19-37

These were painted humbrol 53 and fitted to the pod

Hi all, another update. I have been adding the leather gators to the gun pods using miliput which was sculpted using a cocktail stick and a knife blade .the pneumatic lead has been added to the mg 151 .i used .3mm lead wire.for the electrical lead i used .2 mm lead wire.

2021-01-15_03-36-47

When i went to fit the tail wheel i found out i had mixed up the fuselarges up as the g 2 tail wheel would not fit the yoke arrr! I had two options put the wrong tail wheels on them or swap the yokes over. I went with the second option. I removed the yoke where it meets the strut. I then drilled out the strut and the yoke and used copper wire to reinforce the join.this went fine on the g-4.

2021-01-16_06-02-36

But on the g-2 the drill was off center so did not line up .so i desided to remove the strut flush with the fuselarge and replace the strut. I did this buy drilling out the kit 151 gun barrel cut a 2mm lenth and used a peace of copper wire to join them together ready for fitting to the g-2

2021-01-11_04-24-26

2021-01-17_11-43-33

The g-2 has had the upper surface resprayed and decaled ready for varnishing.

2021-01-17_03-14-19

The head armour has had the lower attachment fitted using copper wire  ready for fitting to the camopies

2021-01-17_03-14-36

I have also used lead wire for the exectrical and pumatic connections for the mg 151

2021-01-17_03-14-55

2021-01-17_03-15-56

And I have managed to split the side of the 151 gun pod. When removing it from the sprue

2021-01-17_03-16-32  Tripped up just before the Finish line arrrr! I think this will stop the builds being finished in time as this will need repaired sprayed. As well as the props fitted, aireals, weathering, head armour finished and fitted and the canopies fitted.
