fredsopwith
Really nice job Mike. Superb finish, but I am going to ask an obvious question, what colour, or colour mix did you use ? John
John Masters
Really beautiful. Gives one pause when you think what was also on the airfield at the time...biplanes mostly. A big leap forward!

Superb finish, but I am going to ask an obvious question, what colour, or colour mix did you use ? John Thanks John. I had to refer back to my notes on the paint mix. I'm afraid I didn't record the exact amounts used, I did it by eye. Of course this is just guesswork based on paintings done at the time! Although the paint was a pig on this build, due to me fighting my old airbrush mainly, I am happy with the end result. It's the colour I had in my head at least! I mixed mainly XF-23 Light Blue with XF-21 Sky, and added a little Flat White and a few drops of Royal Blue. fredsopwith
Thanks Mike. The old Prototype spit colour can be a real bugbear. I have heard that the colour was applied at the Rolls-Royce car plant, so was not a recognised BS308 air ministry colour, but looks great on your kit. Regards John. k5054nz
K5054 is my all time favourite Spitfire (a visit to Tangmere to see the former Spitfire Society replica is on my bucket list) and this is a breathtaking representation Mike. I'm another who's long thought about a 1/48 model - I did her in 1/72 as a teenager - so now I'm off to bookmark the WIP too! Thanks for sharing. What an utter beauty.
