Hobby Boss 1/35 M4 HST

Hi Rob, just catching up and I'm glad to see this is progressing really well. Sterling work on the canvas doors!

Would look good towing something and I'd say the Tamiya 88 would be ideal and as you say well priced for such a project..could always change it at a later date and keep the 88 as a separate kit.

thanks all.. .NOW the build is complete (well apart from probably having to source replacement tracks - HobbyBoss ones just woot stick with anything (even heat!) - may have to resort to a staple!!!!

anyway, done some titivation this afternoon (better securing of the spare wheel, external support for the additional height at the rear and stowage (combination of Value Gear, Redog and AFV fuel cans). it does come out and is in 2 halves to allow for easier painting.

Hey, Rob, did you see this photo ?

very nice... really do want an 88mm so I think I need a santa visit (will probably go Tamiya - dont need the figures but the motorbike would be a fun little build)

anyway

it has gone grey - seem to have lost a "cushion" which I will either find or make a new one later

Cracking on with this Rob, the 88 would look really cool...

Its a really great subject too.

Any success with the tracks?

Stapled.... Mud and positioning should hide them

Where's there's a will there's a way!

Odd that they wouldn't take glue... wonder if all HB tracks are similar?

Good luck!

have heard rumours, dont think I have built hobby boss with tracks....

anyway,

green on - not 100% happy with the very dark on the bottom so may give it a quick blast of the olive drab base (pain is AK Interactive modulation set)... will be doing internal detailing next then it can be buttoned up... Wood is painted MiG old wood as a pale base to allow darker staining on top...

Paint, always a nice mile stone!

I'd agree, if I might say, the contrast between top and bottom is a bit stark. The bottom just needs lightened, perhaps a heavily thinned coat of something pale to tie it together?

They could well be. I've had to do the same with the tracks on my IDF Super Sherman, especially as they had to be stretched slightly to go over the road wheel assembly. That would have put just a bit too much strain on the glued joint.

Hi Rob, I have this kit also. Have you noticed that the drive sprokets are really loose when dry fitted, not sure how i am going to rectifiy the problem? Maybe you have a plan?

I had noticed that yes... and not sure yet - will probably glue them once the track is on - or perhaps pack them with putty and squish them in but that may mean they are not centered

If they are like the tracks in the Trumpeter STRV-103, they certainly do not want to glue together. With my M-4 HST, I invested in a set of T-49 three bar cleats tracks from Panda Plastics.

Nice work on the wood effect and cushions Rob, more I see this M4 HST the more tempting it looks.

This is looking very smart Rob, nice job!

thanks both.

Slowly building up - engine and radiator in, winch fitted. Need to touch up (and paint missed parts) then I think I will button it all up
