AMK F-14D VF-213 OEF 2001 1/48

Recommended Posts

 Finally finished. WIP thread here:

The airplane is built OOB except for some small modification. The paint I used was Gunze Mr. Color, a solvent based color. Painting was done in four steps:

1) apply a layer of Mr. Surfacer 1500 primer;

2) making preshading with brownish black ;

3) basic painting, but with thinned paint so as not to fully cover the preshading;

4) weathering with Winsor Newton Oil color

Here comes the reveal photos:

Fantastic looking Tomcat.

Stunning attention to detail.

If it weren’t for the mounting rod, it could be mistaken the first pictures are photos of the real Tomcat.
👏👏👏

Best weathering I've ever seen. I thought the first few photos were real ones you used to copy until I noticed the stand. Incredible modelling.

How did you achieve that paintwork effect? It looks so real.

I've never seen the scuff marks from the  swept  wing replicated like  that before and I'm a long standing  Tomcat fan.

The attention to  detail is  remarkable. Probably the best Tomcat I've seen.

I used Winsor Newton oil to do the final weathering. I dip small brush into thinned oil paint and dyed the panels of aircraft skin

Outstanding Tomcat, the weathering looks absolutely realistic. I love your presentation, it´s something different to see a modell in the air with gears down.

Thank you! I tie a small brush to the pivot of swing-wing to make the rotation marks

Thank you! Lenses with longer focal range help a lot. I used a Sony FE24-240mm lens and an A7R3 digital camera to take the final photos
