Marlin
Hi, Here's a report from our excursion for the Fake Christmas 2020 in our cottage. We were presented with some lovely weather when we arrived at the cottage. 279 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And as per usual, we had a "Glögg-fika", that is moulded wine with some delicious cakes, saffron "semla" (=a saffron bun filled cream and almond paste) saffron biscuits, mini stollern and some ginger bread. 280 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr When we'd stuffed ourselves full, Axel and I packed up the new home cinema system and installed it in the living room. Unfortunatelly was the speaker wires a bit short for us to mount the speakers in the wall brackets we have. So I'll have to extend the wire next year to be able to mount them where I want them. But the sound and picture quality are miles ahead of the 10 year old system we had in the cottage. When all that work was done it was time for a traditional swedish christmas "smörgås bord", first a cold plate with pickled herring, smoked salmon and an anjovis gratin. 281 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And then the hot plate, with christmas ham, meatballs and sausage with some red cabbage and more anjovis gratin. 282 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The it was time for some fake christmas presents. Anne got a pair of Georg Jensen ear rings. 283 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Axel got the International Space Station in Lego, which he started to build right away. 284 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 285 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Unfortunatelly I forgot to take a picture of the finished Lego kit, so here a picture from the net of the finished kit. As for my self I got this lovely T-14 Armata in 1/72 from Zvezda. 286 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Now I have a small kit to build during the holiday season. With the presents given and received we spent the rest of weekend watching christmas movies on our new home cinema system. I poured my self a glass of Port and had some very tasty 18 months old cheddar cheese while we watched "The Holiday". 287 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr But even the best of weekends comes to an end. And home again I've continued to clear coat my Götterdämmerungs Tornado, and I've glued the ejection seats for the Marine together. 288 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The cockpit has been glued to the nose section. 289 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 290 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And yesterday evening I started with the stencils for the four Eduard Sidewinders. 291 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr But after 32 tiny stencils my neck was sore and my eyes tired, so I'll have 28 stencils left to do for this evening. 292 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi Folks. I did manage to get the last 28 stencils on my Sidewinders yesterday evening . 293 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr It actually should have been 44 more stencils, but I didn't think it was any use to put 16 tiny black stencils between the front fins on a metalic black background. So 60 stencils, or 15 per missile are good enough for me. To be continued..... /Bosse 3
Andwil
76 stencils on the missiles! Life’s too short for that. AW
exdraken
Great! What is the story behind fake Xmas? Oh ho ho. .. missile stenceling! That lies ahead of me as well !
Marlin
Thanks guys. The story behind fake christmas is that we once celebrated christmas the whole family in the cottage. That year we had over a meter of snow there and all we could do was to sit inside and feed the wood stove to keep warm. And since the snow was so deep it was quite a shore just to get water from the pump. After that nobody but Axel wanted to repeat it. So he invented Fake Christmas, which we then could do at the time of 1st of Advent instead of the real Christmas. Normally we don't have that much snow here then, so the roads are still passable that time of the year. But I guess the real reason he invented it was just to get an extra christmas present. But now we've been doing this for ten year, and it's quite fun actually. And Axel get a Lego kit each year, and I'll continue to give him that even when he'll be in his 30's. /Bosse 3
Colin W
I love the concept of 'Fake Christmas', a great family tradition. Together with another great display of festive fayre, it quite often makes my lunch seem somewhat understated. Great job on the sidewinders but you need to crack on with the main event if you are to finish the Tornado by Christmas. Colin
Marlin
Hi. Another weekend has passed and I've done some work on the wings on my Marine Tornado. 294 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've set the wings at 45 degrees swep, and taped the wings in place in order to fix the pylons pivot points at this angle. And while the glue set on the wings I put some more stencils to the outer pylons on the Götterdämmerungs Tornado. 295 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 296 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Revells IDS boxing only gives you stencils to the inner pylons, but I got two sets of decals in the boxes I bought in Germany 2014, and in one box I actually got three sheets of decals. And since I got some stencils over I can also use them on the third drop tank, and I also to some red warning triangles and used them on the belly pylons. 297 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr When the glue had set on the pivot points I continued to glue the wings together. 298 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 299 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 300 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 301 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I think I'll have the Marine Tornado glued up during the week, and perhaps I'll start to paint the Norm 87 camouflage by next weekend. exdraken
Great progress! The 2nd one goes together quicker
Marlin
Thanks Werner. The second one always goes faster. When every pitfal and you got the build sequence in your head it's much easier. I'll plod along with these two, but they'll not be finished before 20 December deadline. I've got to much work left for that. I got some time of work the first week in January, so I guess I'll have them done by then. And then the fun starts again with a GR.1 in the Desert Storm GB. /Bosse
RJ-WobblyHands
2 great looking builds going on there ! I am hungry again after catching up with this WiP , though its a bit early for cheese and port ! and at 52 my wife always gets me a lego model for xmas , though we missed out on the Star Wars UCS B-Wing ! and now I do not need another Millennium Falcon (the original UCS one and the De-Agostini 3ft model fill my home office )

Marlin
Hi, and thanks Werner. I'll never ever complain about stencils. In fact I think "Stencils Strengthens the Soul" But I've not done 9.000 stencils so it might be a bit teadious..... Yesterday I glued the wing spoilers shut, so now the wings are ready. 302 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've also opened up the rubber sealing a bit more so that I can have the wings set at 45 degrees. 303 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr To be continued..... /Bosse
Colin W
Some great progress there but a shame you wont make the deadline. Better to take the time and have something to be proud of at the end.

Marlin
Hi. Another weekend has passed and some plastic have been glued. I got the wings on the Marine Tornado in place. 304 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've glued the fin together. 305 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've also glued the airbrakes to the "lid" 306 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And the "lid" to the fuselage. 307 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'd planned to have this primed by yesterday, but as usual life got in the way. Marlin
Hi. I've done some more work on the Marine Tornado. I've glued the nose section in place 309 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr First I just glued it to the top part. And then to one side so I could get as tight as possible seams. 310 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And then the other side, and the forward part. 311 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And since it was icehockey on tv last night that was all I could manage. To the hockeygame I enjoyed a mug of moulded wine and some gingerbreads with St. Agur on, yummy 308 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I plan to get the fin in place tonight and work on the seams during the weekend. To be continued..... /Bosse

Colin W
Well even if we're not going to see a finished Tornado at least we have learned a lot about Swedish quisine. When we get to travel again one of my first trips will be to Sweden as there is so much to see and do. Now I feel equipped to face the cullinary opportunities as well as the air museums! Mouldy cheese and gingerbread? Hmm needs furthur investigation I think. Thanks Colin
Marlin
Thank you all for a great GB. I knew that I would have trouble building two Tornado's in this short time. I did get a very good seam in the nose section on the Marine Tornado 312 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll start a new tread in the regular WIP section, and I think I'll have these two done in a month or so. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi, The renovation work on our building have been postponed for at least six months, and the plan have been reversed. So I'll be able to continue work on my builds for at least a year from now. I'll continue on my Tornado's in the normal WIP section and I'll start a new thread there. And with the postponment I'll also be able to participate in a few more GB's this year. New thread. To be continued..... /Bosse
