Colin W
Wow building the second one in the same thread will be hard for us to keep up. We'll just focus on the food. Do you grow scallops in Sweeden? Some serious clamping going on there. I have been advised to thin the gloves beofre fitting over the wings which might explain why you had to clamp so much. Marlin
Thanks Colin. I don't know if we grow scallops here in Sweden. I just picked some in the frezzer at the supermarket. Thinning the coverplate over the wings could very well be an idea. I had to sand away four punchout marks in each part before I glued them in place. /Bosse
trickyrich
Eeeeeekkkkkk!!! I thought I had a few fit issues with mine!!! The fit of those airbrakes looked terrible, I think using plastic card to fill the gaps would have been a better idea. Careful all that filler doesn't shrink too much. I see you even had to bring out the "Swedish" torture devices!.......gosh fit does seem to be an issue with the 1/48th beast. Then you're silly enough to start a second one! But nice work all the same, know it'll all turn out very nice as usual. I figured it was safe to look up this thread now.......as dinner isn't too far off! Last night was BBQ's Giant King Prawns, the Snapper & salad along with a nice Sth Aust Riesling. Must remember to take photos! Tonight home cooked burgers with along with a good bottle of Sth Aust Shiraz! Plus to start the weekend off shortly, it's "Friday Bubbles" time........a nice glass or 2 or 3 or....... of French Rose should do just nicely! 1
Marlin
Thanks Rich, Just you wait. This weekend I'm cooking..... And I'll of course have some nice Aussie Shiraz with it. But I've also bought a bottle of Argentinian Malbec to try it with. As for the Tornados, what can I say. Some are into Spitfires. Me109's etc. I'm hooked on the Tornado. /Bosse

Marlin
Hi all. Another weekend has come and gone. And as usual some great food hit the dinner plates on Saturday. As already stated we had Elk/Moose for dinner. 231 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 232 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The elk meat was mixed with equal weight of beef. My family isn't into game meat as much as I am. And the pot was simmering all day long, with a whole bottle of red wine in it. 233 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 234 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr It didn't take so long to clear this plate. And served with a very tasty Malbec from Argentina it was a great meal. No Saturday dinner in our family are complete without some cheeses for dessert. The usual St.Agur was this time accompanied by an Itiche Bäi. A goat an sheeps cheese from the Basque country. 235 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I found a Bavarian Keller Bier from Hohenthanner I hadn't tasted that was great with the cheese. 236 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Unfortunately life got in the way for building this weekend. All I had time for was to glue the outer most parts of the fuselage to the Götterdämmerungs Tornado. And glue the fuselage to the spars on the Marine Tornado. 237 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 238 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Hi. My building has been very slow lately here in Upplands Väsby, Sweden. This weekend we went to the cottage for a long weekend. The schools are out the last week in October here in Sweden. So Anne and I took a day of from work and we went to the cottage late Thursday afternoon. 239 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr We have a wood burning stove, so we soon had got the indoor temperature up. As usual Axel wanted to look at the almost full Moon, but this time we didn't have the best weather for it. But Axel did get some good pictures. 240 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 241 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 242 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 243 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Friday morning was misty, I first thought the forrest had caught fire at the neighbors. 244 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And the mist didn't lift at all during Friday. 245 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr But we're still having some warm weather for the seasons, so why not do some BBQ for dinner. Even if you have to have some more gear for grilling in the dark. 246 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 247 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr But even in the dark you can get some good results. A house favourite, grilled lamb roast beef with grilled zucchini and aubergine served with a potato gratin and red wine sauce. 248 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'd found a Swedish New England style IPA that went very well with the meal. On Saturday we had rainshower, but we also had to do some work. I'd ordered a load of fire wood from our local farmer that had to be stacked. 249 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr But since we helped out all three it didn't take more than an hour to get it stacked on the patio. So now we have enough wood to burn during the coming winter and spring weekends. 250 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Saturday was also All Hallows Day, so we lite a large garden light in remembrance of those who'd left us. 251 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 252 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Since we was in the cottage for the weekend I didn't build anything. But yesterday I had some time for it. So I glued up the exhaust parts for the Götterdämmerungs Tornado. 253 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've glued the bottom and side parts to the Marine Tornado. 254 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 255 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr When that was done, I could glue the exhaust pack to the Götterdämmerungs Tornado. 256 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And there is where I am at the present. Tonight is Hockey night, but perhaps I'll have some time to do some more before the match starts at 19.00 To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Hi, and thanks Werner I did manage to do some building yesterday evening before the hockey game. I've now got the fin in place. 257 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 258 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 259 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I got some seams to work on, mostly where the fin meets the backridge. And I got to fix some noseweights and the radome, but then it's time for some primer. And if any of you wonder how the hockey game went, My team Väsby lost, again. To be continued..... /Bosse 3
Marlin
Hi gang. Here's a short update on my Tornado(s) I didn't get as much building time this last weekend as I'd wanted. I had to work almost all Saturday, and when I got home from work there were other things to attend to. But my lovely wife Anne did cook us a very tasty, and hot, asian inspired salmon. 260 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr During Sunday I put in a noseweight, and glued the radome in place. 261 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Revell states 40g, but I think I put in over 50g to be on the safe side. And yesterday I started to prime it with some matt light grey enamel 262 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll try and finish the priming this evening, and after that come the fun part - painting. To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Thanks Jabba. I've primed the rest of the fuselage now, and I might start the painting this evening. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi. I didn't have time to start painting yesterday. But I've drawn the camouflage pattern and marked each field with the correct colour. 263 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 264 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr So I got a very good chance to start painting this evening. To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi, We've got colours. I had a long and great session painting my Tornado last evening. Since a few years back I'm brush painting acrylic colours from Akan. Works fine for me and dries in an instant compared to Humbrol and Xtracolor enamels I used earlier. First some RAL 6003 Olivgrün/Olive green 265 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Followed by FS34079 Dark Green 266 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And last RAL 7021 Schwarzgranu/Black Grey. 267 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And the bottom fuselage as well. 268 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And now I've got to repeat the process about 2-3 times before it's done. Marlin
Hi, This weekend I hit a brickwall. I don't what happened, but the night from Friday to Saturday I slept 13 hours, and when I finally rose on midday Saturday I didn't feel that great. So after dinner on Saturday I returned to bed and slept for another 18 hours. So with that in mind I didn't do much this weekend. Yesterday evening I put on some more paint on the Tornado. 269 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 270 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Not there yet, one more coat is needed. To be continued..... /Bosse

(I hope you feel like new-born now!) and nearly finished the paintwork! which, by the way has much less contrast than mine.... at least in those pics it seems so!

Marlin
Thanks Col, I've been putting in too many overtime hours at work lately so I guess I was just a bit worn out. But I'll have this and next weekend off, so I'll have plenty of time to recouperate. And perhaps I'll have at least one of my Tornado's done in time. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi, It's been awhile since the last update. I'm done with the main colours. 271 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 20201120_172247 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've masked off the fin antenna and the radome and painted them. 273 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've clear coated the whole aircraft once, I'll do a second layer before I even think about the decals. 274 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've also got the cockpit for the Marine version decaled and matt varnished. 275 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 276 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr With some careful cutting I could even use the decals for the side consoles. My builds will now rest for the weekend. Tomorrow morning we'll drive up to the cottage for, what my youngest son Axel call, Fake Christmas. Every other person would call it 1st of Advent. But Axel invented Fake Christmas around 10 years ago. And we celebrate it in the cottage exactly as if it was Christmas Eve/Day with tradtional Christmas food, Christmas Tree, moulded wine and gingerbread cookies and a small Christmas present. And then we watch all of our favourite Christmas movies. But for that to happen Axel and I have to install a new home cinema system and a new tv in the cottage. Our old system stopped working a some months ago and I've now bought a cheap new system.' 277 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 278 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr To be continued..... /Bosse
