Marlin
Hi, and thanks Rich.  As you soon will see I'm not starving yet.   This weekend saw the start of the Ice hockey season here in Sweden. My team Väsby was promoted to the second top league from the last season. One team Karlskrona, was demoted because their finances wasn't in order, and we got to take their place in Hockey Allsvenskan. (the second highest Ice Hockey league in Sweden)   And on Friday we meet Södertälje in the first game. We watched the game on my tablet sitting at the dinner table in the cottage. We had planned to do the cottage up for the winter this weekend, but with a streaming service I can take all my TV-channels with me to the cottage. 191 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Unfortunately we lost the game with 1-0 when it was only 66 seconds left of the game.   Beer is a nice beverage when watching Ice hockey. And this King Goblin was an excellent choice. 192 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 193 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   And of course you have to have some snacks as well. So some St Agur cheese, some Ritz crackers and a rather nice fennel salami. 194 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   Axel wasn't interested in ice hockey so he took his telescope and when outside to photograph the full moon. 195 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   And full it was, you could even see Mars with just your eyes. (the small bright dot to the left of the Moon in the picture.) 196 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   A nice full Moon. 197 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   And the Moon with Mars behind it. 198 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   Friday turned into Saturday and we started to take in the garden furniture from outside. It's really Autumn here now. 199 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 200 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 201 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   But the weather was fine, so why not have a BBQ for dinner. 202 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 203 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   A minced lamb patty for Axel and a small leftover bit of filé of beef for Anne, and a steak for me. Rather large so Anne got a piece of it since I can't eat so much at a time. 204 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   Beef steak with fried red and yellow onions, a potato cake and red wine sauce is so good.  205 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr   And an very tasty Bavarian Hofmark Märzen with it was excellent. 206 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And with this the cottage season 2020 has come to an end. We've turned off the water in the cottage and the garden furniture are stored for the winter. But soon the Winter season 2021 will start, so I guess we'll have another BBQ in a few weeks.    Oh yes, I almost forgot. What about the Tornado?   Well I've glued some minute coloured PE parts to the black boxes in the nose gear bay. 207 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 208 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr You can wonder why?, parts that are 2x4mm's that no one will ever see again.   I've also started to fold the coloured PE boxes for the main gear bays. 209 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr A bit larger, but I guess no one will ever see these as well.   I didn't have time to finish them yesterday, more ice hockey to watch. This time Väsby lost again with 5-1 against Kristianstad. But it's 50 games left to play, and Wednesday and Friday we'll meet AIK (another Stockholm club) and I think these games will be best ones. The rivalry between neighbouring clubs are always fun to watch. And if it wasn't for the Covid-19 Pandemic I think we would have had a four figure attendance in the arena, but as it is now only 50 persons are allowed in the arena, and the rest of us will have to do with a live tv match.   To be continued..... /Bosse
Pappy
Nice pics Bosse but I think that the front panel on the left avionics box inside the NWW is sitting a tad high? Â cheers, Â Pappy
Marlin
Thanks Pappy. I noticed that now. I'll see if it's fixable.  /Bosse
trickyrich
I was wondering when you'd finally get to the build! Â Â Gee the cottage is in a lovely spot, the area look gorgeous! Â I've come to the same conclusion with the wheel wells of my Tornado....I'm just going to leave them standard as no one will be looking inside them! Marlin
Thanks Rich My build time are deminishing by the day this time of the year. And right now we're a bit busy at work as well. So I'll be putting in some extra hours the coming weeks. So I guess I'll only have the weekends open for building.  The cottage is situated about 100km north of Stockholm in a lovely forrested place. And we have a lake only some minutes walk from the house. It's my favourite place to be, but since we only have running tap water during the summer we don't use it so much during the cold season. It'll only be one weekend a month from now until March. Axel loves it, because of the dark night skies. He's really into Astronomy. We have a Bortle Scale 2 night sky, which is about as dark you can get on land. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bortle_scale And we've actually seen stars with his telescope that are 26 light years from Earth.  /Bosse
Colin W
I was looking for a build update but I'm off to the fridge instead. @trickyrich is just coming into the BBQ season while Im used to having 12 months a year in Thailand. Now in the UK its getting too cold. Only one left for Guy Fawlkes day as in "Remember remember 5th November" Â Â Colin

Marlin
Hi. Just a wee small update, but on a large scale. 210 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr  I've glued the fuselage together. Just the nose section have been glued so far, I'll do the rest of the "lid" tonight. It was a bit tricky to get the bottom part to fit in the nose, but with some mild violence I got it to fit.  To be continued..... /Bosse
exdraken
very nice! Â your w(m)ild violence was about the strange nose/ air intake, no? I just bent the fuselage out a bit... then it slid in fine...
Marlin
Thanks Werner, Actually it was the aft end on the nose landing gear bay I had problem with. But I got it in the right spot in the end. I've now glued all seams and I'll don't have that much sanding to do.  /Bosse
Marlin
Hi  First I'll have to show you that I'm not a Carnivourus Monster that feast all weekends on the worlds bovine creatures. 211 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr So this weekend we actually had a fish stew on Salmon, Cod filé, shrimps, white wine and some scallops. The scallops was lightly fried in butter and some garlic. 212 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And what a treat it was.  But lets get back on the subject. I have done some work on the Tornado, even though I spent most of Saturday at work. The airbrakes have been glued to the fuselage. 213 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 214 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I got som huge gaps that will have to be filled. I've cut of the aft end of the airbrake wells I couldn't get the aft piece of the fuselage to sit right otherwise. 215 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll have to rememder on the next Tornado not to use the well parts. I did get a small gap in the nose section, that I've filled with liquid sprue. 216 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And just as I was packing it up yesterday evening I did remember to add the inflight refueling probe. 217 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr So as you can see I didn't have the time to start my Marine Minelaying Tornado this weekend. but rest assured it'll come. To be contiued..... /Bosse
exdraken
Fresh sea fish! Looks rather tasty! Here in Austria that is a more rare sight....  Nice progress, those airbrakes are a bit of a challenge... I would have preferred them moulded closed... but then they go well with deployed thrust reversers... Such a complicated kit
Marlin
Thanks Werner.  Fresh fish was one of the things my son missed when he worked in Vienna last year. We try to have it at least once a week.  As for the airbrakes, we'll have to see. I've not had any spare time this week so far. Perhaps at the weekend I'll have some time.  /Bosse
Colin W
Always great to see a bit of modelling creeping in at the end of these posts. The air brakes are often a problem so based on this I'll fit mine before joining the fuselage! Â Colin
Marlin
Hi, and thanks Colin.  Time again for an update from the weekend. But first some food. This Saturday we had a roasted chicken, filled with homegrown chilies, thyme and garlic. 218 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I can say, that there was not anything left of that chicken.  But let's get on with the Tornado. I've filled the gaps around the airbrakes with some plasticard. 219 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I also had to use some putty. 220 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr What should one do when the kit your building needs some drying time? 221 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr You pull out the next one from the stash and get started of course.  I'm trying a slight variation in the build sequence on the next one. A tip I picked up here in one of the threads. Sorry for not remembering your name. 222 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've also glued the air intake channels together. 223 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've glued the other side plate in place as well. 224 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr So with two Tornadoes at the go I guess I'll have plenty to do each evening from now. To be contiued..... /Bosse
Jabba
A glutton for punishment. Good luck with the second build, although looking at how the first one is progressing I don't think that you will need it.

exdraken
Great, the 2nd one!  Those airbrakes needed lots attention   interesting approch on the sidewalls! Another one contradicting Revell's instructions in a new way! seems all is better than to follow them...  1
RJ-WobblyHands
Everything is good when you do not read the Revell Manual - its almost an easy kit to build , though I am only building one in this GB !!!  Watching your new build procedure with interest
Marlin
Thanks Gents.  I'll try and get the intake channels in place this evening, and then we could all see if this variation is good or not. /Bosse
Peter W
Some good work going on Marlin but doesn’t look like the easiest of builds.  Pete
Marlin
Hi, and thanks Pete.  Well I wouldn't call it easy, but I really like the kit. If you don't stress things and do things in small steps it's not difficult, just time consuming with all sanding that has to be done on every part. Here's a mid week update on my progress. I've cleaned up the seams around the intakes. 225 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 226 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've used liquid sprue as a filler. It took some nights to do this, but again small steps and you get there in the end. On the Marine version I've glued the main landing gear bays in place. 227 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've just glued them to the bottom plate, I'll glue the sides later on. And then I inserted the air intake channels, again only glued to the bottom plate. 228 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr My plan is then to glue each spar individually, going from the stern to the front. On the Götterdämmerungs Tornado I've also got the wing covers in place. 229 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 230 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I had to use some small clamps to get just the right step between them and the top part. So slowly but surely I'm working my way towards primer and painting. To be continued..... /Bosse
