JOCKNEY
Having swapped from my usual Luft 46 to FAA last time I thought I would add the Fulmar to keep last times Frog Wildcat company. This is a lot bigger aircraft than I thought, it actually looks very simular to a Fairey Battle which I don't remember fairing too well when it met opposition of any description ! I'm not looking forward to that blooming canopy either, still mustn't grumble ! Cheers Pat
Grey Beema
Top scoring type of the FAA by some distance you have there... Good luck with it..
Hockeyboy76
Good luck Pat. You seem to have already “lost” the canopy. Did it fall off when the pilot did a loop?

Its in the bag with the decals. I didn't take a picture of it in case i frightened anyone with a nervous disposition ! 😉 cheers Pat

Oh what fun we had back in the day.
JOCKNEY
Thanks Paul Thats an amazing article, bits being made out of balsa and painted sellotape, you would really have to want a Fulmar in your collection to go through all that palaver ! Hopefully my build won't come to that but, .....I'd better not tempt fate 😉 Cheers Pat
stevej60
A cracking kit Pat have done a couple in the past.
jean
Hi Pat, this will be your usual walk in the park. A couple of hours while seeping a cuppa should see you done with it. As you well know this is far too fast modelling for me. Switzerland is only 80-odd km from where I was born. Nothing happens in a hurry in that neck of the wood... Oh what fun we had back in the day. When I went to that link, my first thought was 'what is a Dak doing with a Starfighter nose?', and then I saw what I was supposed to see. I think this Fulmar kit is supposed to be a pretty good one, if basic. I have just freehand-painted a Barracuda canopy framing, so I feel your pain! Good luck with this beauty, Ray
JOCKNEY
So with the Jockney clan safely tucked up in bed a bit of sneaky modelling Some interior painting done, cockpit assembled, main wings glued together, it's a start Complete with period time piece. AdrianMF
Nice start using the it’s-way-past-my-bedtime option! Regards, Adrian
JOCKNEY
Time for an update, restarted Basic interior with some foil harnesses This is as far as I got, more later after the Jockney clan hit the sack ! Cheers Pat
JOCKNEY
Clock returned to mantelpiece so phone takes its place. Close up of the famous different heights of exhausts ! Undercarrage fitted and that canopy is blooming huge ! A coat of Skye underneath and first coat of Dark Slate Grey Time to face the canopy I can't put it off any longer ! JOCKNEY
Sad to say, this one isn't going to get finished for this GB Did a bit this morning putting the DSG on then problems I spent about an hour this morning putting first coat of DSG on, and masking the canopy, forgot to take a photo to end the session but returned this afternoon to put second coat on and paint canopy, on for this to happen. Something very wrong with the paint, second coat removing first coat ! Having been really pleased with the canopy fit and masking, I'm gutted. I'm going to let it dry properly and then look and what I can do to recover it. I look forward to supporting the other builds on here, till the midnight deadline, good luck. cheers Pat 1
stevej60
Great effort Pat I've had my fair share of fail's so feel the pain!
JeroenS
Bummer! Someone on this forum called it "in paint there is pain"... very true!
JOCKNEY
Last time you heard from me, I had had a paint reaction and any chance of completing this within the Blitzbuild was lost. However I didn't want it joining the shelf of doom, so stripped off the paint and redid it, the results of which are below. Better late than never Cheers Pat
JeroenS
Nice save Pat, it's always better to finish one than letting it languish in a box.
