Westland Wyvern S.4 - Trumpeter 1:48

Recommended Posts

I am preparing to build a 1:48 Westland Wyvern based on the Trumpeter "S.4" kit 02820.
http://www.trumpeter-china.com/index.php?g=home&m=product&a=show&id=2281&l=en

Homework time:

I heard that this was a quality set of extrusions, so I bought it.
Thanks to Rod Dumouchel at The Kit Bunker in Edmonton , AB for supplying me fast and affordably

Box opening experience was not disappointing. I have never used one of the Trumpet sets before.
Detailing is superb, flash almost non existent, and parts are well defined.

I have chosen to build this in the Suez colours as used on HMS Eagle in 1956.
830 squadron.
Why? This was happening when I was born!

Prior to building anything I am doing my homework now.
As I am in Canada I am trying to keep my purchases in Canada, so as to avoid a lot of shipping cost and complications.

Detailing Add ons for this kit that have attracted my eye are:

I would be using Tamiya Extra Thin* liquid cement for the plastic parts and Super Goo for the Etch. This is a lovely kit and you should have a ball with it. :welcome:

*Other liquid cements are available.

This looks like an ambitious project!

When I did mine a decade or so back, it was with a maroon spinner, not a red one. I mixed that from read and blue Humbrol tins until it looked ok

I'm sure there are those who can say exactly what this shade is, in modelpaints :)

It's a great kit though!

Hello Maurice,

I'm in if you don't mind it !!

I have 2 Wyverns waiting patiently in the stash.

Trumpy and Dynavector

So, I take a seat at the bar and peer over your shoulder if you don't mind it.

Sincerely.

Glad you cleared that up, oh Tentacled One- I always thought it was the nasty sticky stuff that was ejected from your multiple orifices....hmmm, now that I look at what I just wrote, I think I need to excuse myself and head for the loo! :giggle:
