Hi,

Many thanks for your comments. I´m really happy with the start of the research comes. I was able to contact two author who wrote about the  Mustang´s. Probably we will be able to represent a good number of P51 very well documented.

This is the first P51

Ive also never seen an RAF Mustang with rockets

It was a trial installation on the MkI and (in a slightly different set-up) used operationally on a few MkIII in the Balkans/Italy.

Mustang AG357 With Rockets and 260 Sqn MkIII With Rockets.

Thank you Mark, I wonder if anyone does the second version as an A/market item. That would be an excellent option to do for a build.

In 1/72, the Airfix TF.10 Beaufighter boxing comes with them. So if you build the non Op Firedog option in that kit, they'll be going spare. It seems the new Beaufighter boxing due for release later this year will come with them as well. Not being a big 1/48 scale modeller I don't know what options are around for that scale.

Hi, many tannks for your comments.

The following Mustangs on the production lines are the following:

Mark        Serial    Code     Sqd        Place    Time
3) I    P51    AM106    RAF    A&AEE    October 1943 testing underwing drop tanks
4) I    P51    AM106    RAF    A&AEE    October 1943 40 mm Vickers S guns
5) I    P51    AM106    RAF    A&AEE    October 1943 40 mm British S guns
6) II    P51A    FR901    RAF    Air Service Training    Summer 1943 Auxiliary Special fuel tanks

Yes, I know what you are thinking. Why they are doing the same aircraft three times. The answer is quite simple. It had different armaments....   😄

Interesting variations, I'll be keen to see them appear. I do confess when I saw the photo in the first photo in the above post I wondered why they built a Mustang with fixed spatted undercarriage, then realised it was an optical illusion 🤭 I'm on my phone is my excuse. :D
