What's your latest acquisition Part V ?

Picked up an Airfix HH-53 Super Jolly Green Giant off ebay. Been wanting a kit of one of these, and heard the Airfix one is decent, plus one of the decal options is for a Woodbridge based aircraft which is right up my street.

Then yesterday, I was browsing Facebook Marketplace and found an Airfix RAF Bomber Command set (with Lancaster and ground vehicles etc) that was being given away for free, as it has been started. Best of all it was 5 minutes away from my house so I collected it after work. Not much has been done on it, just as well seeing the mess the previous person made of it, but apart from the instrument panel decal which is in place and badly ripped, the rest is salvageable.

Three Zvezda kits what I ordered just last week, all with c. 200 parts. First, the mighty MSTA 152 mm howitzer:

The T-28 tank. I got the Zvezda T-35 last year, which is an amazing kit. But the T-35 saw very little combat, unlike the T-28.

... and the Petlyakov Pe-2 (the wondrous "new" kit of course):

Oh yeah ... and I bought some other kits recently, like the Italeri (ex-Supermodel) Frecce Tricolori MB 339A:

And since I like trainers, the Trumpeter JL-8:

I don't like any of the colour schemes in the box, but there are a lot of African users with very striking camouflage schemes.

And lest I forget, some more IBG kits, as in the Type 2 Ho-I:

... and the Zrinyi II:

What's behind this extended purchasing spree? I blame COVID 19, Brexit ... and just about anything else I can think of.

This arrived for me today.  It seems reasonable if not hugely detailed.  I'm looking forward to getting on with it, but I have no idea when that will happen.  Whilst the Gustav and the 'Stang are now coming on well, I've just started an Eduard FW190, and I've got a Vampire coming too (although this is being built in work as part of the world's smallest group build with one of the kids I teach).  Oh well, it's taken it's place in the stash, if nothing else.

I've no experiences of Brengun models - what have you guys found them to be like?  Have any of you built this kit?

I've built one Brengun model - the 1/48 Ohka - and it was fine. Good fit, although a very low part count.

Just bought this on spec at the Chester Model Store

I like the little squirty bottles so I can get the precise amount I need. No more crusty paint lids!

Most important from my point of view is that I now have an acrylic Light Aircraft Grey. This means my Vickers Nimrod can come out of hiatus. The silver will also have an immediate use on my Sea Balliol.

I’m a happy bunny!

A trip to Dave at Halifax Modellers World this morning netted some paint and packs of No11 Swann Morton blades and also a back ordered AZ Hornet F.1. First examination shows a neatly moulded kit with good detail, and some mould lines that will need cleaning up, but well within the competence of most modellers I would have thought. Wing trailing edges look as if they might need some work, but that seems to be the case with a lot of kits. The instructions give credit to some good sources and also to Britmodeller! I can see this kit moving up the build order.

I ordered something today that I hope will really help my modelling, especially over the winter - a desk lamp with a flexible stem.  Our kitchen's quite dark, especially so in winter, and I think this should make seeing what I'm doing a good bit easier.

I also bought some Tamiya tape and an ICM 1/48 Friedrich.

Airfix 1/144 Boeing Clipper, the Craft Master boxing! The decals are yellow and probably toast, but I'll scan them and cut masks or source alternates. I have a plan to build Pacific Clipper, NC18602 on a base with a map showing it taking off from Khartoum.

Another donation. This time a part built kreiger Hornisse flier from @SafetyDad.

I've been after this one, or a Fledermaus for years so this is more than welcome.

This looks like it will be my Winter project, and as usual, I intend to modify it somewhat.

Like @gcn the other day, Padraic refused any money. So to thank them both, I've made a donation to the BM server fund.

A Babyliss beard trimmer that's going back. Dunno what's wrong with it, but my skin feels like it's on fire after I use it. My face and neck are currently bright red. Just as well I didn't partake in a little man-scaping!

Jeez, I've never had a reaction like this after using a trimmer or shaver. Ouch!

Allergic reaction to the lubricating oil used on the trimmer ?

Have succumbed to my wife's request to purchase 1/700 Flyhawk HMS Penelope Deluxe Kit that her father served on during WW2.

Since I'm  old beginner again I've only   successfully built  a 1/700 Titanic which I'm happy with, almost completed a 1/48 MK1 spitfire, just decals to add on not too sure what I think of that yet (I've seen better on BM pics), couple of small missing parts which have jumped into another dimension and cant be found🤔 (I think paintwork could have been better).

I hope I've not bitten off more than I could chew with the Penelope.🥴

If you haven't got an Optivisor, get one before you start building.  Flyhawk kits have some very, very small parts!
