Sabrejet
I just realised that this started as a clunky Monogram kit: double respect!
PROPELLER
Thanks Sabrejet! But this kit was not so bad... As you can see, a good basis. About Monogram's kit an others. Of course, for an OOB job, I think all kits are clunky!...For mad people as us. We have to expect this kind of surprise: But after sweet and tenacity... What a pleasure! I hear the question... Not so fast my Magician friend ; did you do that with hot water or hot air? Or skilled bending fingers?? And why will you not make it operable after the really complex things you've already done?
PROPELLER
Thanks Nick, even if I can't really understand! You are welcome Mr C... If I remember correctly, I short cut the inside piece (arrow) and I bended an glued the outside panel on. 16 years ago! Dan. 2

PROPELLER
Thanks Thierry and the others! About doors and windows... Of course, they will be revisited. Some brass may be? Settings... Not so bad! Rear windows, same punishment! Soldering was not there really an easy job... In situ: I wanted rear windows a bit opened... With the sunroof opened, by experience, its more comfortable! A big step... And still a long way... Thanks for looking! Dan.
Codger
Superb brass channel work Dan - and I ought to know. I only had two curved corners at the lower windshield, rest angles.
PROPELLER
Thanks Mr C... First, I omit to show you a small modification, but very important! Now, what is going on under the body? Exhausts! As usual, completed: How to? Not a really easy operation... First we have to create a CNC tool: Bad joke... It's an cheap vice as a bending tool! Pipes have to be filled with sand. Fine sand, very fine. I found it in Sahara, during a journey some years ago... It's called "fesh-fesh" , a trap in fact! More soon... Dan, the sand thing is genius, never seen that done before, what a great idea. I've used silicon 'rods' to bend clear acrylic tubes before, but would never have thought of sand. regards, Nick
PROPELLER
Thanks Harvey and Nick! It's not a technique of mine, it's a well known one by plumbers... The sand (as fine as possible) will be packed heavily, both of pipe ends obturated, soldered in fact as you can see on the pic near the sand... Of course brass pipes must be annealed. Feel free to ask anything about that... Dan.
PROPELLER
Well, exhausts, more... Note the Monogram's parts are poor, but in the good shape: Action! Mufflers... Where is the Monogram's one? A wooden piece is needed to reach the good shape. Two mufflers, please... In situ: More soon... Dan. 6
nick
Can't really believe I'm doing this, so here goes. My wife (really my wife, not me) was watching 'celebrity Antiques Road Trip' last night (bear with me) and features a very similar E-type to yours, OK it's a later V12 but it is primrose yellow. Take a look:- https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09g7w3t/celebrity-antiques-road-trip-series-7-episode-1 Go straight to 1:55 to avoid the pain of watching it fully. JCH
This might have been helpful... albeit on a MUCH smaller scale. I really appreciate you posting so much of the "how to" of your work. I think to myself, "Hmmm..., I can do that" (with lots of practice). I just never thought enough "outside the box" (get it???). Awesome work and thank you for posting! Apologies the link is for BBC iplayer and I didn’t realise it only works in the UK. You may be able play it via a VPN, if I get time I’ll see if I can save some clips or stills. it’s a terrible show, just got a yellow E type in it in parts!
