The Spadgent
Hey guys. Thanks for all the lovely comments. 🥰 I simply couldn’t leave the office looking so plain so more PE a gloss coat, some Flory (dark dirt) and a matte coat. walls. Instrument panel. And the main seat. That feels better. 🤗 I still need to add all the belts and do a few highlights and such. Looking forward to bringing this little office together now. Then the fun really starts. 🤩 Thanks for popping in. Hope you’re all having a splendid week so far. Johnny

AdrianMF
Johnny, Hate to be the messenger but that top slidey bit of the canopy should be one big rectangle, not two squarish frames. The extra frame is a modern addition. If you care to do nothing about it you can put it next to mine (which also has the spurious frame across the slidey bit). Wartime pic Restored example pic The interior is looking fab. I keep resisting PE details but is resistance futile...? 2

I found that out too, but decided I was too far on with the model to bother correcting it. I think it may be something used on later Canadian Bolingbroke variants?

I don’t want to put any more stress on a man finishing a very nice build with lots of PE. Johnny is quite at liberty to either join us in the extra frame sin bin or take the high road with a file. I will be happy to see either outcome and STFU either way 1

Quiet Mike
Great photos Chris! I had a search and found this, the only wartime photo I could see with the two pane hatch. (DND Photo via Chris Charland) Bristol (Fairchild) Bolingbroke Mk. IVT, RCAF (Serial No. 9903) from No. 8 Bombing & Gunnery School, Lethbridge, Alberta, landed halfway down the runway on 2 Feb 1943. It overshot the end of the runway and nosed up in deep snow. http://silverhawkauthor.com/canadian-warplanes-3-the-second-world-war-bristol-blenheim-and-fairchild-bolingbroke_727.html

The Spadgent
More work on a rather wet October weekend. I got the seat belts added and a flory wash was done. Time to get a ruddy move on eh? The main assembly together. And glued to one side of the very awkward fuselage assembly. This is the first time I have come across a three part fuselage thing with the wing section taking up the middle third. With my cobbled together canopy this is becoming more of a challenge. The spare seat got glued in with its PE base. And the last of the bits came together. The IP. And from the other side. Right then the moment of truth. I need to wallop this whole thing together. I decided to start with the less built up side to add the entire canopy to. I had to cut off the under window locating shelf as the PE stopped it from fitting. (That was fun) but eventually with the help of Gators grip we’re half way. not a bad fit overall. Just need to try and wangle on the other side. 🙈🙈🙈 Well what do you know. 🙌 it just popped right on. 😯 some peg action and some Krystal Klear to fill holes but she’s in one piece. ❤️ with new found hope and some mojo in the tank I did this. So many clamps bits. 🤣🤣🤣 While this dried I did some garden chores getting ready for the new shed. We have Ivy that has grown into next doors guttering. Not fun to clear. 😱 but I’d did give the wings time to dry. 👌 just before dinner I got the main parts together. What was that? More pegs? Ok then. here’s a few more. I think this fit seems ok. So two of the three fuselage parts are glued. Here’s the other side before I go. At last looking like a Blenheim. ❤️❤️ Thanks for popping in. Hope you’re having a grand weekend. Happy modelling chums. Johnny

The Spadgent
Hya. Monday huh. 🙈 look at this. Never have I seen such an odd thing. Surely it’ll just fit right? .... right? 🤔 ❌❌ wrong answer.❌❌🤭 Such gappage. I looked to see if I had glued it all wrong but nope. It’s as per the instructions. 🤔 I’m going to go see if others have had this problem. 🤔🤔 It’s either this bit. (Already hacked at) or this bit. (Starting to hack at) I bought in the big guns. @perdu would approve. 😇 Eventually I got it with only a few gaps. shims were employed to close the said offenders. And one to close a hole right at the top. I decided to fit the bomb doors now assuming there would be gaps. 😔 I assumed right. What the what?? Honestly the fit here is terrible. She is now shimmed within an inch of her life. Wake up. Time to dry!! Roll on Tuesday eh. 🤩🤩🙃🤣 Johnny shim 6

AdrianMF
I think you've run into the same problems that pretty much all of us have had with this one - the filing and shimming seem to have done the job though. The FROG kit is still my favourite Blenheim to build - everything fits! Regards, Adrian
CedB
Yep, what Adrian said These new tool Airfix kits have such small tolerances that even the slightest molding error throws everything out. I made sure there were none of those lumpy bits that you can only see from some angles but my MkI was still gappy: and the MkIV benefitted from the experience: Looks like you've sorted it though Johnny, good job 2
