The Spadgent
Getting on with the last few bits. I’m not looking forward to removing the masking on the greenhouse but what will be will be. She’s already turning out a lot better than I first thought so let’s keep everything crossed for the final hurdle. 🤞💪 Here we go. The wheels got masked to spray the hubs. Of recent times I have painted these by hand but the Metallica never look quite the same so I’m going all in. 👊 The top decals are on. Not too many compared to the Horton. And the other side. They will need knocking back with a post shade and some Flory. Under side to do first though. 🥳 The cowls got masked ready for a metallic blast. 🦾 and that’s where we are. She’s on the last few steps now. Thanks for dropping by. hope you’re all having a great week. As always. Happy modelling. Johnny.

The Spadgent
Good evening. Hope you have had a spooky Halloween. Great time to finish the house of horrors. 🧛🏻🧟♂️ Not quite there but in the next day or two. Looks like we’re in for more Lockdown action on our little island. Let’s hope we can all stay safe in these strangest of times. Lots done on the Blenheim. So I’ll get on with it. The mid turret got assembled. Lots of detail for such a tiny gun. The masking got removed from the clear parts. The liquid mask came off well. Let’s hope that this is the way it will continue for the front glass eh. 🤞🤞 while looking at the final assembly points in the instructions I noticed a bunch of parts I hadn’t shipped off sprews yet. 😑😬 so they got rounded up and made tidy. The main airframe got a Flory wash. Wet... And dry... This got rubbed down and top coated last night. Word of warning, don’t try and do modelling after far too much Rum. Luckily this was before I sprayed it. To be fair I can’t quite remember spraying it or taking this photo. 😯😱😳😬🤫 Less we talk about the “rum incident” the better. 🤣🤪 Most of the bits and bobs got painted and got a Flory wash. There was a gun in one wing that I saw needed adding so I drilled out some 0.8mm rod. That was fun. 🤨🥳 I got an early Christmas present from the wife. 🤗 my old one is chipped to death. The turret got glued with gators grip. I’ll need to run some Tamiya panel line in the glass edges but overall I’m happy with that. 🤗 The last few parts got primed. Does this remind us of anyone? @Martian🤔😃 it’s the engine pipe things and that gun for the wing. 🤩 The hubs got a blast of silver. As did the collector rings. I’ll burn this with Tamiya smoke after the first weather pass to give it that tarnished look. An afternoon dog walk and a lovely autumn view of Wychbury hill. I could probably press on but I really want to post up on here and light a fire so this is where we are as of Halloween. The aerial and prove thing got painted. As did the engine parts. I did a bit more weathering then a top coat. I’m happy with the look so far. One more coat in think to bring her in to where I want. The underside is looking good too. assembly and final touches to go. Just gotta lay off the Kraken. 🤪🦑 Hope you’re all well and staying safe. She’ll be done in the week.... Take care and as always. Happy Modelling. Johnny. 🦑

The Spadgent
Hey you lot. Ready for lockdown 2 “electric boogaloo”? Seriously though I hope you’re all keeping safe. 😷 I started by adding all the UC and the guns. It was all going rather smoothly I got the wheels on and she was on her legs when right on time Another nightmare. Hopefully the last of this build. 🤪 I decided the time was now to remove the masking on the greenhouse and assess the damage. 🤔😳😫😫😫 super happy with the frame, not so happy with the bits of blue plastic floating around on the inside of the canopy. Must be from when I sanded to make the fuselage fit. 😫🙁🙁🙁as @CedB would say. “Rats!” Or something more flowery. I had no fix for this. I vaguely remember someone saying that you can ping the bits of the inside of a canopy with static. 20 minutes I tried to run all kinds of plastic things to make some Kind of charge to make the bits budge to no avail. 😔 so sa last ditch effort I tried some wire through the fuselage from the hole in the middle. look, if you zoom in you can see a little wire hoop in the cockpit. My luck was in!!!! 35 minutes of swizzling and edging that bloody wire around I eventually cleaned up the bits. It’s not perfect but it’s a lot better. And the etch parts are still intact too. 🤩🤩🤩🤪🤪🤪🤩🤩 Happier with the glass I could move on with the little bits. I drilled and added a support rod for the aerial. I glued on the chin aerial and the flaps but apparently forgot to take a picture. 🤨 I do have this one of an unmasked engine however. 🤩 This got a wash. I’ll knock that back when it’s dry tomorrow. Here’s where she stands for now. Nearly time to close the final doors on this rather spooky multi build. Take care. See y’all soon. Johnny.

The Spadgent
Good evening you lot. Looks like we’re all done. 🤩 The last few bits and bobs got completed on the final two builds today. Here’s what happened on the Blenheim. First up the nacelles got their flory knocked back. Then masked for a flat coat. How many times can you mask one bit I ask you?? 🤪🤣🤣 They got glued in place along with the turret. One last kick before she rolled over. Guess which bit I lost???😫😫😫 Looks like scratch build time again. Those bits are clear sprew and some Plasticard. I decided on the plasticard route. Dipped in hot water to bend into shape. I punched out some discs to use as lights and painted them before fitting the new cover. The whole assembly got balanced in place and glued with Krystal Klear. Still wet in this shot. Hopefully no made surprises. I used EZ line for the aerial wire and glued one side. Fitted the props and little trumpet exhausts to the engines. Cut back and added the little gun tube here. Here is a really handy jig for aerials. One end I’d glued and the other is wrapped in blu-tac. Attached to a clip or just a cocktail stick you can adjust at your leisure then glue when ready. I used rocket glue here. When dry just cut with a blade. Just need to wait for that light to dry then she’s done. Next stop RFI. Thanks for all the help and support on this build. She turned out not too bad considering she nearly went in the bin at one point. Those clear parts never did show up did they. 🤨 I’ll do a sign off post when I get the shots done for the RFI and post everything up here. That’s it then. Creeeeeeeeee!!! Door 4 Closes. 🧟♂️
