The Lockheed SR-71 was the ultimate in fast reconnaissance aircraft fielded by the USAF.  With a top speed over Mach 3 (which was never actually disclosed) the aircraft needed a new at the tine Pratt & Whitney J58 engine. The exhausts and afterburner provided quite a distinguishable feature on the air frame. At speeds of over mach three the rotating parts of the engine produced only drag with the afterburner providing 100% of thrust. As with many kits the engine molding while OK in plastic cant compare with the castings available in resin. This new set fro Metallic Details is a four part affair which needs only minimal cleaning up before fitting together. The casting is first rate and these will make your finished model realy pop. Highly recommended.
