USMC Harrier loadout Operation Enduring Freedom

Hi all.

I have a set of decals to make a USMC Harrier that flew as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and was wondering if anyone could give ne details of loadouts carried during these deployments.  The decals state the aircraft were operational during '09 and '12 if that would make a difference to what was used.

The 'tinterweb isn't throwing up many suggestions so any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers and happy sticking and painting!

By 2009/2012 they were typically doing medium altitude attacks, so it was just as likely to see the strakes fitted as the gun pods.  The AN/AAQ-28 LITENING pod was originally a "war emergency" addition to the Harrier program in response to operations in Afghanistan and Iraq and fitted to the right, inboard wing pylon, by 2012 the pod was also cleared to be carried on the centerline fuselage station, with either the strakes or gun pods fitted.  Some pics below:

The centerline pod is the AN/ALQ-164.

  • 4 weeks later...

Spent two weeks off Bubiyan Island on HMAS Darwin acting as AAW escort to poor old Bonnie Dick in Mar/Apr 2003, watching her +'s loudly launch loaded like that and just as loudly recover with all A2G ordnance expended!
