1/48 Mk. VIII Spitfire.

Recommended Posts

Having built an amount of axis tanks and aircraft over the past years I thought it time to try my hand at an allied aeroplane for fear of favouritism . This is the 1/48 Eduard Profi kit of a Mk.VIII Spitfire and my first attempt at one of their kits and I have to say they are top quality with crisp detailing and almost perfect fit of parts along with many decal options, not to mention the photo etch parts. Suffice to say this won’t be the last Eduard kit I’ll be building! Anyway, this is built out of the box using Ultimate Primer, Tamiya paints, Humbrol lacquers, oil paint wash and weathering powder. Low resolution  photos are courtesy of an ancient iPhone so apologies for that and I really must invest in a proper camera.
As ever, any constructive criticism very welcome.

Beautiful Spitfire, with very tasty weathering – although I must confess that I don't find the 'every-panel-lighter-in-the-middle' school to be very convincing. 😉

Extra kudos for the drooping elevators, so typical of parked Spitfires!

And since this is your first British subject (really?) I'll let you in on a secret :deadhorse:: the crowbar in the entry hatch was never red, but either green or natural steel. You only see red bars on modern day warbird Spits.

Summing up: superb modelling.

Kind regards,

Joachim
