theplasticsurgeon
Planning to build and paint this Sea Harrier, alongside my Airfix project. Bought at SMW2008 for £10.40 (probably from Hannants, probably IPMS discounted.) As this option. I've already build an 801NAS FA2, and am building Airfix Satan 1 - 800NAS. Decals and parts. I'll contact Phantome to ask to see his photos. It doesn't sound a great kit, so might shape my decisions.
Andwil
I will be watching with interest as I have one of these on the stash. I have heard some bad things about this kit (not wishing to put you off) but haven’t actually seen one be built. It will be interesting to see how it really is. JOCKNEY
Never seen one of these built which surely means this is the ideal opportunity to do so ! Best of luck. cheers Pat

I've heard the same. I think I bought mine the day it was released - it had already been condemned by Nick Greenwood of Harrier SIG! Maybe that explains 12 years in my stash. Andwil
So far so good, and the intakes have the auxiliary intake doors open which is a plus. AW

Upper intake doors only - depicting a parked aircraft, with engine shut down. At least I know that, and can plan accordingly.

At least I know that, and can plan accordingly. That’s how I like to build my aircraft, parked and shut down. Having cut out and repositioned the doors on a Sword Harrier T2 and an Italeri Sea Harrier, I am not looking forward to having to do it again, but with a number of Harriers to build I guess I’ll have to, so it’s nice to see another kit other than the Airfix ones that have that feature. theplasticsurgeon
My idea of a HUD in 1/72. Small thin piece of clear plastic folded, with edges painted as a boundary. Here with my other build.

Aardvark
Sorry, I just saw this build. I have F.A.2 from Special Hobby, this repack Xtrakit but with resine (for garbage) and photoetched. Probably the base plastic has problems with the radar nose cone shape. This photo compassion with resin nose from Pavla....for Airfix F.A.2...(i.e. base Airfix nose cone also wrong?): I do not know how correct the nose cone radar from Pavla, I only state the differences in the shape! But I don't see any particular problems with the original part, it is enough to work a little with sandpaper, the thickness of the plastic will allow You to give the cone the correct shape if You act carefully! ...or can just buy a nose from Pavla.... ...or can just leave everything as it is ... 🤗🤔 B.R. theplasticsurgeon
For Serge - leaving everthing as kit. Onwards! Why did I buy this kit? I has a wide canopy that doesn't fit. Finally fitted, but a messy job. Here, masked. And airbrushed Humbrol 165 Medium Sea Grey.
Col.
Nice work so far Tim. Later editions of this kit came with a replacement canopy that actually fitted

Now I just want to finish this build, and move onto the next. I've just masked and framed the canopy. Drying on a windowsil for the day now.

However there's a few aerials and other bits left in my Airfix build - that I'll copy to this one.
