Argentinian Navy P-3B Orion

Recommended Posts

This is the Hasegawa P-3C Orion converted to a P-3B of the Argentinian Navy.

I modified it to a B model by removing the sonbuoy tubes and updating the antenna config consistent with the prototype. The HF wire antenna lines are EziLIne. I also rescribed the model.

It is painted mainly in Gunze acrylics and SMS metallics and decalled with the DekLs sheet (the reverse type).

Lots of work in that and an excellent result, Ray. Looks really good in that scheme too - very striking.

Best, Jeff

Hello RAY,

The Argentina Armada Fleet Air Arm is small, but very effective. Highly trained and very dedicated crew.

Your model shows this to great effect. With the USN replacement of the P-3C to the new "Poseidon" , it is likely, that some of the air frames will be used to replace the old  P-3B.

So we will see the P-3 for many years to come.

Amazing design, from many, many years ago, still soldering on.

Your model looks fantastic. Excellent color scheme

Regards, Orion.

Yes, the Canadians and Germans are planning to operate theirs until well into the next decade. I believe the CP-140s are getting (another) re-wing and NP-2000 propellers to keep them going, too.

Another masterclass in P-3 building, Ray!

Thanks Rob,

The Argentinians are also replacing these P-3Bs with ex-USN P-3Cs

Just read the Germans have changed their minds and are now looking to replace theirs soon; so the P-3 may well be on the way out soon. Not too soon, I hope!
