Just another Hurricane.

Recommended Posts

Airfix 1/48 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1

Flown by.

Sgt Tadeusz Andruszkow. No. 303 (Polish) Squadron, Royal Air Force Northolt. England, September 27th 1940.

Just another Hurricane, but my first one.

This was quick and simple build, everything went to together fairly well, except where the lower part of the wing joined the underside of the nose. Very big step, which needed sanding and filling. Seat belts by Eduard. Finished with a Satin varnish.

Beautiful job. there's no such thing as "just" a hurricane though! 😀

And I will happily agree!

Thanks. The reason I put 'just another Hurricane' is that there seem to be many, many kits built.

Yes there are, and each and every one of them certainly appears to be appreciated! It appears there can never be too many Hurricanes, any more than there can be too many Spitfires, ME-109s, P-51s, etc. Oh, and don't forget the Tomcat! Always a pleasure to see another Tomcat!

I can only reiterate..........

Nice work, coincidentally I was watching The film "Hurricane" just this afternoon.

Cheers,

Very neat Hurricane!

Since there are probably 10 Spitfire models for every Hurricane, it needs all the exposure ic can get.

The satin finish gives it a bit of a modern warbirds character, since the 1940 camo was more or less dead matt. OTOH, maybe Sgt Andruszkow asked his groundcrew to give his mount a good waxing… 😉

Nice model!

Kind regards,

Joachim

Have to say, I'm not sold on the Satin finish. It might turn matt yet.

This isn't just another Hurricane, to me it's a wonderful tribute to the magnificent Polish airmen who changed the course of history.

The satin finish may not be such a bad thing, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that 303 squadron pilots used a wax polish on their beloved Hurricanes in a bid to gain more speed. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can either verify or correct me on this.

I found this.

Another sad story.
