alteregoni
Quite some time, since last post. But things have been moving forward. Brakes are almost ready, only missing brake line and fittings. Not totally happy outcome because there is quite heavy line in the middlew of brake caliber. I should think some other way to execute assembly, but I just have to live with it. I decide to live disc's unpainted stock "semi matte chrome" on these look pretty good. Of course discs brake surface if from photo etch sheet. Just some simple black wash on top of everything. And clear yellow on air ducts, to make them look more glass fibre. And the engine. From box it would look kind of toy'ish. So I stripped all chrome parts and painted them. These engines are quite pipe and wiring heavy. I decide to use just "main" wiring. I'm sure there missing a lot pipes and wires. Fitting should have been little more up to scale, but these will do. Fittings are from Rb Motions. Quite expensive, but they look so good and no painting hassle or anything. But As I said they are little too small side. Engine block, trans axle and gearbox is Vallejo semi matte aluminium. Pipes from turbo to intercooler are Tamia lp titanium silver. Intercooler is Tamiya lp gloss aluminium. There is also used many different shades of sliver from Tamiya, Alcladd II and Vallejo. I wanted engine look more silvery, so did not use black almost at all. Tamiiýa LP paint are so good, and easy to use that this makes me think is there any reason to use those "real metal shades" since they durability is guite bad, and they rub of quite easily. So allmost zero bolts added, Mainly economical reasons. There is allmost million simulated bolts here, so only paint detailing there. Also did minor weathering from Tamiya panel line bottle. Also some blue on on some parts like exhaust etc. Oh and drive shafts are cut down from Top Studio 1/12 Mclaren detail set. Edit: Almost forget, that I scratch built throthle lingage from parts from RB motion, and spark plug hat's on distributor cap are also from RB Motion Edited December 27, 2020 by alteregoni
Toftdale
Just caught upon this, great work. Especially the flocking, this is something I've never really had any success with, but after seeing your results I might be tempted to try again. - Andy
alteregoni
Thanks Toftdale! What comes to flocking, is what I found out, is use slow drying paint underneath. Something like enamel from Revell what I used here. And flock small areas at time. Tea infuser "spoon" is handy when flocking. Here is great tutorial what have used on learning: 1
alteregoni
Thing has been moving thou I have not able to post any updates. I thought it would be better if I post a little bit at time. So here first batch of pictures. Engine is now in engine bay. Decided to keep all the wiring as simple as I could. First electronic/fuel filter panel. Just simple imaginery wiring there. No added fittings or anything Couple of shots of engine bay. Just added couple missing hoses to water reservoir tank. Viev from the under side. Brake fluid lines are copper wire, and black one is handbrake wire. And finally I found some use for Tamiya braided hoses. Those scale was spot on to replicate engine dry sump oil hoses from- and to oil tank. Fittings are RbMotion's. And finally exhaust installed. Picture show color little bit wrong on exhaust pipes. It shoult be more "goldish". Pipes were painted by Alclad titanium gold. Added some minor heat weathering.

alteregoni
This post is quite picture heavy, since it includes couple steps. Oil tank. I decided to leave engine oil reservoir, as it is quite cool feature. Stripped plating off. Also upgrade oil pipe connections on RbMotion ones. Hoses are again Tamiya's. Also try to make it look more realistic based on pictures found in the depths of internet. Color is Gloss Aluminium from Tamiya rattle can. Oil and water coolers. Nothing special here. Just etched parts glued on. And very simple water hose ad between coolers. And now we continue to the front booth. I left racing gas tank out, so there virtual tank underneath panels. I also decide to leave fuel pumps etc. away. Making this booth "street look" I just simple iron it with some styrene sheet, and make separate space for the oil tank etc. Holes were filled with hot glue. Not happy with flocking. But what can you do, but just accept it. Dashbord. I wanted to continue this silver/brown theme on dashboard too. So gauge rings are painted with Tamiya laquer titanium silver. I fill main switch etc holes. And sprayed it with Cuioi color from Zero. Also some gauge decals are from BestBalsakits decal sheet, 'cause speed meter was missing. Also added clock on right side and gas meter on the right. I made some minor modding to steering wheel Also, Drilled some holes, and filed some material off from the center. Far from perfect, but it will do. And finally wheels. I decide to paint center to match the body color. Really buggers me, that I have no bolts to add on inner wheels inner piece. It would be very expensive upgrade to do , so that no for me.
alteregoni
3d printed seats are done. Original idea was to paint them with Zero's interrior paints. Base coat structured paint, nad top of that selected interior color and top of all that some Tamiya matte clear Seat's surfaces was really rough. So tried to sand it down, but plastic on those was really tough to sand. 400 grid sad paper did almost nothing to them. So I give them to go, and just Tamiya primer and top of that Zero Cuoio paint. And voila'! Result was pretty close what I was looking for. There is some visible printers layer marks, but I can live with those. I tried to make them look like fabric kind textured surface. Little alcantara style or something. Not perfect but close enough whart I was looking for. Also started to paint body. Theme of that is that Turquoise green/chrome. Kind of something what Singer makes on old Porsches. Chrome of those grilles are from Molotov via airbrus. Paint is 2k automotive plus Zero Diamond finish clear on top. No polishing just some automotive wax on top of everything. Edited May 9, 2021 by alteregoni

alteregoni
Final post. After year or so it is finally done. Door panels. These were pain to work with due the material. Material is rubber like bendy and soft stuff. So you can guess how easily paint cracks off. But result is decent. Zero interior paint here on top of Tamiya surface primer. Change those original screws to flat domed head screws. I Drill holes little big bigger and glued those in. Pretty happy about outcome excluding body paint quality. I had quite big issues with it paint it two times and still it is not perfect. Base coat is glossy 2k automotive paint and top coat is Zero 2k Diamond finnish. I really struggle to get right mixture on both. Always they seem to be too thick. After several attempt managed to get right mixture for the base coat, but always struggle with clear. Maybe hardener on clear was little too old, and started to dry by itself. So after that didn't dare to polish it. Surface on some parts is little gritty and orange peely. I only put some wax on it that's it. In future I really have practice that polishing thing to achieve glass like surface. But it is glossy and shiny, and I am ok with it. Where I'm really happy and little bit of proud too, is body modification. It turns out really nice. And overall I managed to get what I was looking for. Turn this racing machine to street car, never done anything like this before. Door window frames are Molotow via airbrush and other frames are Bare metal foil. Mirrors and door handles are also Molotow via airbrush So here is result, more on ready to inspect section.
