!/72nd Fairey Fulmar 807 Sqn 1940 Vista kit

Recommended Posts

This is my recently completed 1/72nd Fairey Fulmar kit. It is from the Vista kit (that has been reboxed by Airfix, Revell and SMER and most recently by AZ) and is the original boxing. Not a bad kit, the surface detail is a bit heavy in places and the undercarriage well need boxing in. The cockpits are a bit bare and the wheels represent the ones in the FAA museum that actually belonged to a Firefly. Cockpit detail was added from an old Airwaves PE sheet and some of the undercarriage was reworked. New resin wheels and exhausts were added from Scale resin and the model was finished in Xtracyrlic with Light Grey (XF19) underside from Tamiya. Decals were from an Xtradecal sheet and  are for an aircraft of 807 Squadron FAA in September 1940 when the squadron reformed. The undersides were later painted in Sky leaving a band in Light Grey.

Wonderful build. You did an excellent job masking the aircrew enclosures. That's something I'm still working on.
