PhantomBigStu
With the news that COVID is finishing off the 747-400 in passenger service and cutting the 747-8i numbers down and A380 numbers severely. Perhaps it’s time for either 747 s STGB or a jumbo GB? I’d been down for a Landor 747 in either. 747 GB List: 1. Me 2. Rabbit Leader 3. Ghostbase 4. Stephen 5. Desert Falcon 6. Pin. 7. 71chally 8. Zebra 9. Tomprobert 10. Romeo Alpha Yankee 11. Stefan Buysse. 12. Fortyeighter 13. Davejl 14. Rob S 15. Richard E 16. Grame H 17. MarkSH 18.Abandoned Project 19. Rabbit Leader
You got me at a weak moment Stu. We’ve just celebrated 49 glorious years of 747 operations at Qantas and last Wednesday was Brisbane’s chance to say goodbye. I’m no airliner modeller, however really ought to build something from the company that has paid my wages for the last 32 years! Good call mate, I’ll play. Cheers.. Ghostbase
Definitely interested, my first 747 flight was in a TWA 747-100 in 1987, then an iconic Pan Am 747-200 'China Clipper II' a year later and would love to make one of these. I have the Revell 1/144 Boeing 747 SCA and Space Shuttle in the stash, also the E-4B, both released around 2012 ish. I think I read that the base 747 in both kits can be built as a civilian 747-100 which would cover the TWA Jumbo at least. Just to say, personally this GB would need to be sooner than later for me, I tend to be a spontaneous or impulsive scale modeller and can go 'off the boil' pretty quickly and move on to a new obsession 😎 Michael
Stephen
I'm in definitely, after 16yrs of being a flight attendant on them I'd have to build one.
PhantomBigStu
Welcome aboard, making the list for a 747 STGB as smaller threshold for them though as for timescale I think we are full up for STGB's for next year, but perhaps we can 'persuade' @Enzo Matrix given the circumstances to put in on the calendar
desert falcon
Yes please, I would certainly like to be on the list. My favorite would then be a Scandinavian Airlines 747-200, preferable “Huge Viking” which was the first 747 to be delivered to SAS in the early 1970’s. Obviously in the old viking livery if I can find a kit / decals. Cheers Johnny b
71chally
Count me in, but it would be a very basic build, and a first group build for me. I doubt the new 1:72nd kit will be issued in time, but hey ho.

71chally
Is there a 'best' injected kit, I believe most have issues, but which is better?

Stefan Buysse
Hi, I love 747's and I've never built one, although I have a Hasegawa 1/200 JAL 747-400 in the stash. So, I'd love to participate. Cheers, Stefan.

The Zvezda 747-8 isn't bad either.

Tempted to try that conversion myself
71chally
Thanks for the info. I take it Revell issued their own a long time back, and the Zvezda kit?

Both the Revell 747-8 and the Zvezda one were released in 2012, the Zvezda one first and the Revell one later in the year. They're different toolings, not a co-operation release. Revell have released a 100/200 (1974 tooling) and a 400 (1993 tooling) but both have detail and shape issues.
Romeo Alpha Yankee
I'm in, I have VH-OJA to build which is now on display at HARS. Photo taken the day after it was delivered to the museum back in 2015 Though If it is built before that (which it may well be) I have another 6-7 747 kits to build, perhaps a QF 747-300

DaveJL
I've never built an airliner but do have a soft spot for the 747, so I'll join in. Perhaps someone can recommend a good kit
