1/72 Airfix C-47 Dakota "Lilly Bell II"

Recommended Posts

Dear fellow Britmodellers,

here's my 1/72 Airfix C-47 Dakota, built with the addition of Eduard photo etch, Airwaves Boarding ladder and Xtradecal markings for an aircraft of 89th TCS, 438th TCG, based at Greenham Common in August 1944. At that time the b/w D-Day stripes were already overpainted on the upper surfaces.

I painted the model with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics.

All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel.

Gorgeous model! I especially like the way you handled the invasion stripe overpaint. In the rush of keeping airplanes flying and meeting associated objectives, I'd expect the overspray to look like that; not thoroughly covered but good enough to satisfy the upper echelon folks. Your model rings true to the realities of war time.

Another superb subject from you Roman.  We are being spoiled by your impressive works of art and it continues here with your outstanding Airfix C-47.  I am inspired by it.  :clap2:

Hi My Friend Roman:

Congratulations for this new masterpiece to shine in your shelves!!!

This subject detail is impressive and the way you have handled it was very good, taking all the beauty this kit can be extracted by an expert.

Like a huge lot the paint job you have done and the overall details like the beautiful ladder you have added and the other things. The paint job is superb and the soft weathering process really well done. Nice to watch unusual subjects from your bench, was wondering which one would you be picking up from the stash to make us thinking in go modeling your way.

Thank you very much for sharing,

Cheers,

Luis Alfonso
