perdu
This has to come from somewhere. Here I hope. Slip rings and pitch changery ahoy. Fun to be had, or a model on the scrap heap... These do need and will get trimming but I think they will make fine subjects for scratchery. This too. Adieu mes braves.

perdu
Slow pace at present Wobbly hands do us no favours either, maybe I will drop that one from the list. A fractional improvement Bu**** Try this Maybe a trifle over emphatic, I don't know. ? The gun Next the gun And maybe the Merlin............

perdu
Cheers guys Gun The basic model of the gun surprised me, only stuff missed off instead of a piece of ill moulded nonsense so I have begun building the support cage for it It might be amusing getting this located in the fork of the mount when the cage is on but it is so big a thing round the gun it has to go on getting there More fun tomorrow but for now Queen's Gambit beckons...
The Spadgent
Only just caught up. The paint looks indeed spot on, brilliant work. The rotors and the gun both look amazing. Honestly my good man you’re a genius. 👍🧐 Johnny.

perdu
"Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above, Don't fence me in." But sometimes you have to Begins I mentioned that my home brew decals were on, what I didn't mention was that this model will represent ZJ224, call sign Ugly Five One as she was in Afghanistan and described in his book Apache by 'Ed Macy'. This is the aircraft he flew in at the Fort incident. In the book are a few photographs which will enable me to personalise the dust and caked on grime better after the next stage of varnishing. Ah yes the gun frame continues I'm taking this bit slowly to let the cyanoacrylate gel to harden in situ, I am using Roket Max and this is a first run. I would maybe enjoy soldering up the frame but initially I need to finalise sizes and locations before I get too ambitious This afternoon after the pc pause I hope to finalise the shapes around the gun and I can then decide whether or not to rebuild with lead solder. "Let me ride through the wide open country that I love, Don't fence me in."
giemme
Lovely job on the gun framing I'd stick to CA rather than solder (see what I did? ), given the mix of plastic and metal. Just my Ciao
perdu
I think you are right G, I intend to but I think I am going to ditch the gel-cyano and go with cheapo Poundland straight supergoo. The gel builds up too thickly for my liking.

Loctite original, in fact, because it's thin enough to fill small crevices and spread into recesses; if I want it thicker, I just add flour. perdu
I will be making a smaller frame, the present one is too big Luckily my present one is perfect for comparison. Busy busy...

perdu
Come on Tom, take air please I have really enjoyed this little project within the big picture, here's end of play today Main paint on and detail painting to be done in the a.m. With the cage/fence I have also added the atop-the-gun cable cutter (Yes Italeri missed that one and a couple of others) and this will get operator gear and cartridge chutes when it is under the helo. All great fun, suppose I need to finish the rotor gear next too. No, you haven't developed double vison, that is flash shadow and t'other, busier side. There you go, gun done.

perdu
Rotor pitch change gear. I was going to ignore this, after all Italeri did but it is all just too visible sitting under the blinking great radome so fate is sealed kinda thingmy. (is it true I could have bought a D model without additional stress built in? Would it have been any fun? Jury still out.) Had to find bearing stays to sit around the rim of the bearing race assembly A length of handy Evergreen channel steps forward. Well done that volunteer! Trim a couple of forked ends from that and Prepare to add them to the lever arms I added earlier. Italeri have astounded me here, the yoke's arms with two of the pitch change pushrods on actually have the vestigial positions for the arms to attach to. Thanks Italeri, saved me some soul searching and maybe going back to plan A and omitting the gear... Hmm After trimming the angled arms back it was time to trim the change leverage to size. Anyway, back on it, the new change levers have been painted because it would have been impossible afterwards. And positioned where robustness was called for with Formula 560 and allowed to settle beneath the bearings. When dry I will trim off the excess and add a tad of superglue for stiffness. Then a touch in of the paint and blades will be down in the 'shop' awaiting attention. Black sounds good huh? The gun in need of minor fettling, barrel to be blacked and muzzle brake to get a coat of steely dan... This shot also shows some of the radome's green control boxes now finished and ready to pop the radome on top of the rotor blades when finished. I have to work on the rocket pods next, and the missiles. Ciao.
