giemme
I'm with Johnny @The Spadgent: post shade first, then decals, then maybe decals de-saturation, then weathering (I didn't mention the in-between clear coats because I don't wanna sound like I'm teaching you how to suck eggs... ) Ciao
hendie
I'd go with what they said Bill. A little bit of post shading, followed by decals, followed by a minimal post shading just to knock the decals back a bit and blend things in. A lot easier written than done, I know.

perdu
Maybe I worry too much, how would I know? Dust from my pastel box alone gave me this I think this has knocked the dull shine right back where it belongs Thoughts?

Yeah that did occur to me too Johnny, we have a plan. I gave the model and its parts a spray of Tamiya TS-80 matt and let it dry then began the dusting experiment with these small items first.

Hamden
You have most deffinately overcome that minor paint problem you had, as if there was any doubt Stay safe Roger
perdu
Does the team think? Oops I breathed sorry my bad... And now with some of the dust knocked back with my wide flat brush Seems to me my guess about Vallejo 70.979 German Cam. Dark Green paid off. The nose sighting gear is painted in that not the Colourcoats and looks right enough to me, a relief when it comes to touching up when necessary. No heavy aroma problems for G to have to deal with. As it stands there is not a lot left for this one, my decals are on and almost invisible So that's OK then 👍 Wheels and undercart need attention and the gun but I am waiting for delivery of some soft detailing wire for the missing frameworks for the gun and undercart Biggest problem for Mr OCD, the tail rotor is a joke, rotates the wrong direction and is completely missing the operating widgets which means a new hub has to be found/made... Oh well happy days

Isn't that SOP for italeri Bill? Great job on the dusting. That weathering looks just right. Brilliant job 2

Terry1954
That dusting looks awesome. Turning into the mean machine we know and love. I lived very close to Middle Wallop for some years, so saw many of these beasts, along with their smaller cousins (Lynx and Gazelle). You are capturing that look perfectly. Remember that the final flat coat will knock back the weathering slightly too. I try to remind myself to be a little bit braver than my default, knowing that the last coat of lacquer will even everything out. Great job that man. Inspiring me to get my own D onto the bench. Fritag
Just gonna sneak in and lazily adopt the preceding 7 comments. They must all be correct. Unless they mailed them in.....in which case I don't believe them and they shouldn't be counted....(oops - please ignore) Edited November 9, 2020 by Fritag

perdu
Thanks chaps, I was never going to use that expression again but in your case I will. I know you always take care of your skins, please continue to do so, ta. I should know better than to enjoy such fulsome praise, it always comes at a cost. Now look what you lot made me do... And so it begins And because The Big Gun is sparsely decorated The speed surpasses the shutter speed... Or The new detailing wire has landed from the Bay and the gun's protection cage is becoming. The sketch is what I hope to achieve on the tail end, cross 'em please guys.
