perdu
Smaller will be better I'm going to add strips of twenty thou plasticard inside the arch shape to make the 'gap' smaller then begin removing 'meat' from the outer dimensions Reporting later I hope
perdu
First piece of twenty thou' across the inner bridge section gits! Perfect focus too much flash, bugger First side increaser in What I intend to do is use the new inner dimension to carve the outer sections to fit, smaller The last new sidewall fitted All off to the drying rack Mucho heavy duty minisihrsc work incoming...
perdu
OK smaller leg on the left the thicker one needs reducing to suit Thinned down across the bridge section now, better take a look Hmm Still unconvinced, but sure this workpiece won't take any more refining Might be time to draw her again smaller I jotted the relevant sizes when I was working on the reduction. Original size across was 7.59mm, I have reduced that to 6.85mm. Depth was 7.55mm which now is 6.90mm. The 6.0mm size at top of page is the width of the bridge not including the bearing bulges, forgot to measure that first time up. Inside the bridge section used to measure 5.22mm and now it is only 3.85mm. Across inside the bearing/drive motor bulge it was 4.75mm, now that is 3.30mm. I will see how this all looks when it has a smaller camera added, no decisions yet made.

chrislowe
Bill, in post 358 it looked like the height of the mount is about the same height as the letters in the word RESCUE. Do you have that decal? Can you use a measurement off that as a guide? If you don't have that decal, use the camera mount you've made as a guide for the size of the word RESCUE when you print it. perdu
Ta lads, any road up this is it. The original gimbal pin pushed through the new frame showing how much reduced it is Of course I now need a new camera too And decent pictures thereof... The original length of runner reduced to suit the old bracketery with the new length of sacrificial white runner Thank gods for kits being sold 'on the runner' huh? OK how to turn the camera body, I know. Thanks Tony, you're a star take care Cutting the rear end back for its stub blank ready for fitting to the frame and time to embellish the actual frame with nicer detailsn Now try for fit Could be worse I had a moment Forgot to use this, dammit... We learn, hope we live to do it
perdu
Regarding that last picture I had not realised how useful that jeweller's clamp can be The handle comes off and it sits nicely on the bench when you need a reasonable approach to a clamped job I couldnt put the crosspiece on that antenna with it all up in my wobbly, doddery hand Down on the bench, easy I think it was Hendie who introduced me to its charms but this is an extra bonus asset Thanks H Now for the Apache for a while...

perdu
The lathe was a surprise package in the post one day a couple of years ago Totally unexpected and to be fair likewise undeserved I love it The clamp was a few quid on eBay, I love it too I have been wasting time trying to improve the camera by inserting a transparent lens into the unit Not sure it will be worth it.
perdu
Blimey it's Tuesday already. Whilst I try to turn a piece of PETg into an upper front port door I have also been preparing the fuselage windows for their light grey outlines (Does Ben @wellsprop know what colour the outlines should be I wonder? Must be a stock paint surely.) with small black outlines round a couple of them where grey isn't appropriate. Soon be time for white too and then I can get busy with RAL2005 and start the run to the end. I know the antennae and cable cutters are missing from the top but they've been left off to avoid them being removed by clumsiness.

CedB
Yeeesss! Nearly there… Nice light thingy Bill and thanks for the tip on the clamp - all I need to do now is remember…
wellsprop
@perdu possibly medium sea grey for the outlines, I think they are seal type things and they aren't painted. It appears they aren't designed or manufactured by the company either so I haven't been able to find much on them. Similarly with the camera, it's supplied by a specialist company so I haven't been able to get any detailed info on it! 1
perdu
Thanks for looking Ben, MSG looks about right to me and would fit in with the seals on RN Merlin's not standing out massively Cheers

It all gets horribly complicated with the newer aircraft as specs have changed, so they could be painted UK specs, European specs, US specs, Italian specs, vendors own specs, etc, etc.
perdu
Useful stuff Ben and very surprising too, thanks mate Well I suppose this is ready for its first real paint job since the primer test. In response to Ben's advice it will be the grey which will set out the window and door seals, with the cockpit framing in the same grey Paint just around the outlined windows ready for the larger masking before I white the beastie all over I have added as much greeblification as the 1/72 scale size will carry without looking over-fussy I hope Lost of little bulgey fairings, why ItaRevell left them off is beyond me. Other stuff can wait 'til the painting is done. Now to fill the doorways and visit the paint shop Ciao
