After a week away followed by an eye infection, time to move a little forward with this. Padding/ insulation added to forward bulkhead. As I only intend to have the rear door and commanders hatch open, I only want to do detail that can be seen and seeing that I've a figure in the commanders position, you won't be seeing anything through there. So I'm thinking: Vehicle extinguisher system (left forward corner) NBC Unit (RHS). Does anybody have a better pic of this unit? Fold up benches on both sides. A tread floor that I'm hoping I can find a PE option Put 'something' in drivers/ commanders compartment? I've found this: https://leicestermodellers.weebly.com/fv432-mk21.html which is fueling my thoughts. Stuart

Courageous
Should have posted this little update on Friday. For a change I thought I'd take a look at the wheels and picked the drive sprocket. To me, the sprocket width was under-size when the front and rear parts were mated and compared to the track? So, I've tacked some spacers between the parts but after looking at more pics, I'm not sure if this right but with no holes for the sprocket teeth... Courageous
All change... After looking at the rest of the wheels, my 'spaced-out' drive sprockets looked wrong, so I removed the spacers and hope I can make it look good later. Courageous
Back to hull, rear bulkhead to be precise. The rear door was removed using the inner face as template (as per instructions). The rest of the door was removed from the outer rear face. Need to retain the hinge points but need my micro chisels. Good fun this. Bullbasket
I thought that 1/48th was testing my eyes (and sanity), but this this would really do my head in. Great work so far Stuart, and good luck with the remainder. John.

I agree gentlemen but space and speed decree that 'braille' is the way. Although I did build in 1/35 for a while, I did find it rather large and would have gone to 1/48 if the subjects existed, so here i am. Micro-chisels are now at work, so hopefully will tidy up door hinges on the rear face but I'm not feeling confident and may have to have a fall back position. 'Till later... As for the 'young' and 'good eyes', both are incorrect; retiring next year and wear reading glasses/magnifier/ optivisor when at bench. Anyways, another update. Hinge points tidied up on plastic, so it can be fitted to hull when it's ready. PE door parts removed, cleaned up and ready for mating before adding the door detail. Getting ready to remove commanders hatch. Instructions ask you to save the vision slots, no hope, so I'll scratch a set when closer. If anybody has a decent pic of the commanders hatch inner face... TIA Stuart

Courageous
Another day, another dollar. The read door is stuck together with Formula 560 Canopy glue, just got to dress it up a bit with boxes, padding, viewing port and whatever I have missed. Also removed the commanders hatch, its surround and vision slot assy. Added the PE surround and added the hinges to the PE hatch. Hatch still needs handles and padding added and a scratch vision slot to be made and added. Stuart
badger
Great progress and some neat work with all the etch. If you havent already found some Dan Taylor Modelworks do some etched treadplate that would work for your floor. Eduard used to do some but they discontinued all their 1/72 AFV sets years ago so not sure if you can still get it. Keep up the good work All the best Ben

Courageous
Should've posted this yesterday at the end of the session. Inner rear door done; PE inner and outer skins, plasticard used for padding, boxes, handles, etc. Not accurate enough for the purists but it gives observers an idea. With the helpful tip from Ben @badger, the PE treadplate has arrived, so I can cut a section of that before moving onto the extinguisher system and NBC unit. Catch you later Stuart 6

Terry1954
I must say Stuart, that door detail is pretty good. This is turning into a little cracker. Keep up the good work! Terry

Yep, there are some who most probably think I'm mad, sometimes they're right. 7 hours ago, Terry1954 said: door detail is pretty good. Cheers Terry but magnification of such detail also shows the crudeness, fortunately such crudeness isn't so noticeable with the Mk1 eyeball. Courageous
And the build continues... Extinguisher system(?) temporarily placed at its intended location. NBC Unit(?) fitted at its station, not 100% by any stretch but will look okay when viewed through the rear door. Also seen here is the PE treadplate that I think isn't the correct pattern but hey, it's treadplate and it's 1/72. Still to do are the fold up seats then I can look to painting the internals but I feel something is missing, that 'platform' near the extinguisher, was this a stowage are and if so, for what? Courageous
Posts will be a little sporadic as my internet provider has decided to mess about, so I'm having to use the works PC as and when I can. Anyways... Sploshed the old primer on. Next step is colour to the insides. Stuart
Courageous
And away we go... Internal parts painted and fitted. Not wanting to blow my own trumpet but I'm chuffed with that. Rear bulkhead on. ...and so is the roof. All drying now and no doubt the joins will need filling and sanding before moving on. Stuart
