Nice work.

If I may...'Zero' do a Textured Black'...ideal as a base coat for this sort of finish.

Ron

doh.

they even do a red actually it turns out, which has a handy picture of a ferrari component to show it off.

I'll just keeping plugging away re-inventing the wheel 😞

Thanks,

As unhealthy as this is becoming, these are finally right now IMHO.

Red must be a recent addition then...will remember that for future reference...thanks for heads up.

Ron

I got hold of the zero textured paint (in red, black and white - in for a penny!) and it’s OK, but honestly, no better than my homemade efforts.
the textured red looked a little too pink to my eye, so I stuck with my originals. Crackle black will come in handy without doubt.

Looking great nick. The render shows the amount of detail that you have been able to capture.

This will become an engine you can be proud of.

Indeed, the textured look is perfect and I really like the "pitted" look of the belt covers on the right.

Can I save some of your photos (the renders and the parts) on my PC, to use as a reference when I get back to my 1/8 F-40 builds ? And can I post them in my WIP's ? (with a caption that says something like "Renders and parts made by Nick")

Sincerely

Yes of course, I’ve only got this far on the back of the work of countless  other people, so I don’t need or expect to be credited.
great to have helped !

Well I've finally cracked the front side of the block. I've been grappling with this for ages, as I've only got one or two images of the front side of the bare block to work from.

Nearly there anyway, here's a quick and not very good render:-

As I've been stuck on this for so long, hopefully things will start to flow quicker again now, let's see!

On a roll now I've finished the block (which is printing as we speak!)

Front cover and waterways this morning:-

Cracking on now. Front cover and oil filter holder completed and printed today.

I also turned the oil pressure sender and some brass connectors on the lathe.

As I hoped would happen, the penny has dropped with fusion 360 now, and it's suddenly got very easy, the front cover I drew in about 20 minutes. Stuff like this is so easy to do with this technology and you simply wouldn't attempt it conventionally, or I wouldn't anyway.

I did have to give myself a bit of a talking too when I found myself fashioning cylinder head gaskets from brass shim - really? I may need a lie down now. I suppose the whole endeavour was going too far right from the get-go so what the Hell. In for a penny.

I haven't torqued the head bolts yet so I know it isn't sitting flat. Infact a few things need joining better, it's all just mocked up currently.

I may put oil in it. Haven't decided yet.

I will know it's there.

Regards and thanks for looking ,

Nick

I wasn't happy with the waterways, So today I have completely redone the water manifolds and they are are a much more accurate shape now, I've also drawn two of the rear cam covers and made a start of the very scary induction system.

Superb. Nick what are you using for your black finishes?

Thank you.

I’m going to use my new zero textured black, the above images are just renders currently.

I'm sorry Nick, but for my eyes it seems as a painted very rusty piece!

But maybe it's the pic...

Dan.
