That is just lovely. So when is the kit coming out?😋. No really when?

Nick

I’m trying to get this done in time for Telford.

I’m building it from the ground up to be repeatable and print reliably, and I now have a modest production capability. Most importantly, it’s fairly accurate now which always stopped me doing anything with my previous ‘made up’ version.

so watch this space. If there is sufficient interest and the numbers work, I will produce a kit.

Nick.

Me too! Out of interest do you know what scale(s) you might do?

Nick

TBD. I'm working in 1/8th currently. With my current printer I could possibly go 1/6th or 1/5th. As for smaller scales detail will be lost obviously. 1/12 should be fine, 1/20th 1/24 maybe less so.

It's all possible and I'll look at this when I've got the 1/8th version dialled in and finished.

Thanks for your interest.

1/12 would be great! I'm in at least for one.

Nick ... I think you should get yourself body-scanned and printed at the same scale to be seen assembling this masterpiece!

I like this in 1/8 scale to go as a stand alone next to my F40. What kind of cost are we thinking about?

Too soon to say, it's all the bits I can't print that add to the cost - threaded rod, acorn nuts, PE, decals, Brass square tube, wire, hose etc, etc.

Safe to say it will be more Pocher than Airfix though due to the effort involved!

I understand. I think that, in my case I would probably only need the printed parts, decals and possibly the PE depending on how extensive it is. I’m already working with the Autograph transkit as well as two other transkits. And, given the amount of rod, tubing and threaded stock along with all the different sizes of bolts and nuts that I already have, I probably don’t need any of those items. When you get closer to knowing where you are going with this, just PM me and we can talk.

Thanks, Wayne

More clutch/rear cover obsessiveness.

I built the flywheel positions sensors today (from separate components of course) so took some close ups.  I also drilled out the hose connector on the rear cover and replace it with an ali tube -  probably not worth the effort, but hey.

Nice to see my trusty printer is capable of printing the threads on the studs. we like :)

I've just finished drawing the Oil Pan and Front cover today and just got the first two test prints off.

Some adjustment is needed to beef up the fins and webs, as well as some radii changes on the tubes of the front cover, but otherwise they seem OK

I think the Oil Pan is about right

The front cover less-so, I'm redrawing all the bumps and bulges as they look too flat-faced to me compared to this

Thanks for dropping by,

Seems churlish not to comment on this master class of 3D design and printing capabilities but it gets repetitive saying "Fantastic" every day LOL.   Having barely skimmed the surface of Fusion 360 myself I'm very impressed with the skills you've acquired ... and all self taught!!

Keep going Nick!

Thanks Frank, it does get easier the more you use it!

I’ve been practising on another secret little side project that may appear on Britmodeller in a day or two that you might like, so stay tuned 😎👍

Hi Nick, been away for a while and looked in to your thread to see what happening.

I’m really amazed at the quality of your CAD work and the results you get. That will lead to a really, really great model of the engine.

Keep us posted on the developments (you might want to put some stuff in the 3D forum too).

I put a link to this thread up there some time ago.

Are you sure you aren't mixing up the rfeerence pics with the printed part pics?

This looks so real to me. Unbelievable.👍👍

Finished redrawing the front cover. I haven't printed it yet, but here is a render. The shape is better now I think.

the various bulges on the bottom left side are more rounded compared to my original version.

Here's the first print of the new front cover (on the left) the shape of the bulges is less flat and generally better I think?

You might notice my continually and admittedly somewhat obsessive constant tinkering with finishes here too. I'm currently layering slightly different Alclad shades in different orders and proportions.

I know, I need to get out more.
