CrazyCrank
Good afternoon Gentlemen A bit of progress yesterday evening, on the engine: First I have to say that I've failed to scratch entirely the ignition wire set. It has been quite easy to scratch the 6 wires which end up with a spark plug , easy to make the flute and to fix it on the cam cover, but for the distributor and its wiring, it's been a very different story, and finally, I've abandoned the idea to make it, in order not to ruin the previous build. Indeed: - find the appropriate wire, a 0.5 mm one, has been easy - strip this cable over some millimeters to get a much thinner wire has been easy - join 6 cables by the thinnest end, thinking that the result could be tiny enough to be threaded in the end hole of the flute, was easy too. - BUT impossible to thread the resulting stuff into it ! - So I tried to thread the cables by the stripped end, one after another, but it was impossible another time ! And no matter to glue with CA the 6 cables, one after another, at the end of the flute, I would have get an ugly "magma". So I keep the set as is, and Ill have to live with that 🤔 The engine has been placed into the chassis and the exhaust pipes glued on it I've used the Hobby Design Photo Etched parts to replace the 3 chromed caps of the cam cover, D5 parts on Tamiya instructions A new experience for me, and a difficult one Each cap is made of 4 parts (64+64+64+63) that one have to glue together. After some minutes of patience, I got a first quite acceptable new cap, more realistic obviously, but not perfect, because the 4 parts are not perfectly aligned but I can guarantee you that it's not a funny work. The 2 others are better, and for the naked eye, one can't really see the defaults. Also, I'veput the decals on the cam cover and begun the plumbing of the oil tank, with: - one pipe which starts from the oil tank, just below its cap, and ends on a banjo bolt, that I simulated using the head of a 0.6 mm brass bolt - one pipe which starts from the top of the tank, and which will join the oil cooler - And one pipe which starts from the bottom of the tank, and will join the engine block. That's all for now, guys, thanks for watching
CrazyCrank
Good evening Gentlemen A bit of progress today, while my daughter in law is in delivery room since this morning, and waiting for my second preferred scale model's birth Yesterday evening, I've sprayed 3 satin black coats over some parts of the engine bay, and this evening, I've sprayed on them two coats of Alclad Semi Matt clear. And then, I've enhanced the water and oil coolant with some PE parts. . The propeller shaft has been put in place and the other parts are waiting for assembly (airbox and air filter, intake manifold, air and oil coolant and its tubing, anti-sway bar) or enhancements (firewall and fuel tank ) Stay tuned if you like

CrazyCrank
My little pink shrimp weighs only 1920 gr, arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected, but she's already heavy in my heart All's going well for her, her parents and her daughter Emma, and that matters. Waiting for the opportunity to seeing her otherwise than by video (FaceTime, Messenger etc.), I've done a little progress tonight 😎 I've glued the fuel tank in place And am working on the firewall, enhancing it with some PE parts: manufacturer's plates and wipers linkage + = And adding the washer fluid tank: This one is provided as a clear cubic part with some fine engraving on it to represent its fixation system and cap. So...I've painted the inside of the part with Tamiya Clear Yellow, to represent the fluid, and the fixation system satin black, as well as the cap. Well, it's looking pretty nice ! It still remains to add some parts on this firewall , this will be done tomorrow. Thanks for watching

CrazyCrank
Good evening guys A lot of silent work today and a lot of scratch work too I've painted satin red the inside part of the bulkhead, added the PR parts over the foot switch, and glued it in place. And at last, I've added the carpeting made with bright red flocking powder from Zero Design: Then, I've worked on the bulkhead: - Added the tube that comes out the washer fluid tank towards the wipers - painted the wipers motor and brake fluid tank, put the decals on and glued this part on the bulkhead - added the electrical wiring for the wipers motor - painted the ignition coil - Added the wiring that comes out the ignition coil towards the flute of the ignition wire set -And glued the coil on the bulkhead - Added on the bulkhead some parts that are not provided in the kit (it remains to scratch the fuse box) Stay tuned if you like, for the next steps...completion of the engine bay, and a lot of scratched additions

CrazyCrank
Good afternoon, Chaps Yesterday evening in reality, I did much work on this car than I showed you... Taking inspiration of the picture below: - I added some brass tubing betwenn the front part of the intake manifold, and the engine block, - I added the rubber tubing that join the rear end of this intake manifold and the bulkhead - And at last, add the rubber tubing that join the front end to the long water pipe with thermostat (that joint radiator and bulkhead at the centre of the engine top) Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of that step during assembly, and I can only show it once the intake manifold glued in place on the engine block: I used the 6 PE parts to replace the propeller of the watercooling radiator: Stay tuned for the next step: Radiator and its tubing 🤔

CrazyCrank
Thank you so much, mates, for those kind and huge comments. I try to do my best...however, working vey close to the model, I can say that there is a lot of defaults. Obviously, at the naked eye, it could appear acceptable, what it is... Yesterday evening, or by night, I don't remember, I did some more progress on the build, adding the water and oil coolant radiators and some tubing, part of them provided with the kit, and others, fully scratched, as usual . As you could see hereunder, I felt there had been something missing on the ignition coil.....THE DECAL "BOSCH", and the fuse box too ! Well, today, I've added and enhanced the water tank, adding the tubing, mix of rubber hoses and brass tube, that goes toward the water coolant radiator: - 0.8 mm brass tube - 0.4 mm brass rod - Some electrical wire that I've stripped out, keeping only the insulating sleeve Mixing all that stuff, I got a pretty imitation of the tubing Then, I've built the tank cap, with 3 PE parts, and glued it on the tank before adding the decal, and finally, I got: Last but not least, I glued the tank on its stand, and gently installed the tubing. Some spots of Tamiya Rubber Black paint later, I got this result, which is, I guess, the end of the engine bay job: [ That's all for no, guys. Thanks for watching :
CrazyCrank
Good evening Gentlemen Not a big improvement tonight but a bit of progress though. For the engine bay, it remains to glue in place the air box and air filter, BUT, the part provided in the kit is defective , and the adjustment is far to be perfect, so, I've to wait further steps of the build, to make test fits nad decide what I've to do in order to get the best and as accurate as possible result. Waiting for that, I've primed the wheels and the tub with Alclad Grey Primer and Microfiller, and got a nice and smooth appearence Next steps: - paint the wheels Tamiya gloss black, and then Alclad aluminum , and finally a satin clear coat - paint the tub: inside red, and outside satin black, except the wheels housings which will be painted the same color than the body, that is Daimler Silver (Gravity colors GC-218) Stay tuned if you like

CrazyCrank
Morning guys Thank you so much for the comments Wheels painted Alclad Gloss black base. I've to dry a complete drying (some hours I guess) before Alclad Aluminium, and then semi gloss clear coat: Meanwhile, I've a lot of things on my plate with the assembly of 4 wing nuts ! Each one is made of 7 PE tiny parts: Wish me luck !
CrazyCrank
Good evening guys Painted wheels are drying, and it's not time to handle them. As promised, here is the first wing nut I've assembled tonight: Delicate job, but with patience, magnifying glasses, and a 0.8 mm rod used the thread the parts, in order to glue them one to each another at the right place, it is feasible Only 3 to make, and then a bit of weathering, to accentuate the accurate engraved details
CrazyCrank
Good afternoon Gentlemen What about wheels ? I've been working on them a whole week, without being satisfied until now, and I've had to redo the job several times. Finally the solution I used to get an acceptable - to my eyes - result, is this one: - First Alclad Grey primer and Micro-filler - 24 hour drying - Second , Tamiya XF-1, Flat black, 2 light coats, 254 hours drying - Third, Tamiya XF-16, Flat Aluminum, 1 light coat, half an hour drying - Fourth and last: Mig piments "Polished metal" MIG-302, applied with a smooth brush, and then buffed with a cotton-swab Difficult to buff in-depth the outer side of the wheel , but the result is rather good, looking frankly as polished aluminum . Hereunder a picture taken under artificial light, with an incorrect angle, that doesn't do justice to the job I've done, the first and third wheels seam to be very dark in comparison with the second and fourth one, that have not received the MIG pigments Now, one of the 2 "pigment-buffed" wheels, seen with artificial light but a right angle: . And now, one of the achieved wheel under day light: And with the butterfly nut under day light: See you soon for the next steps, chaps
