XP-47J Superbolt

While looking for new to me XP-47J  photos, I found this very thorough history of the development of the P-47 Thunderbolt that I thought some of you might enjoy reading. From the Cradle of Aviation Museum archives. I know it will never happen, but I sure would welcome a kit or conversion to make a J- the fastest WW2 single engine piston-powered fighter. I've got a 1/72 Tamiya razorback Jug set aside....someday! (IIRC, there was a resin kit long ago OOP, but I don't recall the  maker.)

IIRC the resin kit was by a Czech outfit called Alliance.  They may have had some connection to CMK in the mid 90s.

I picked up a bagged one for a relative pittance but never quite finished it.  Basic but a nice build.

I think actually the Alliance kit was the XP-72 the conclusion of the experimental XP-47J.

The latter was released in 1/72 by Sharkit.

This is the resin XP-72 that I have. Comes with Scalemaster decals with serials included for the two examples built: 43-6598 and -99. vac canopy, resin one-piece stabs and wings, and fuselage in two halves. plus all the rest of the detail parts in resin. Mine is numbered 163 out of 200. I have seen two built: one with  wings and parts from a Tamiya bubbletop kit. They both looked very nice.  It's a sleek looking package for an R-4360  powered Jug!
