DaveJL
Hello all, Here is my recently completed 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire Vb marked as EP829 of 249 Squadron based at Krendi, Malta in April 1943. Flown by Sqn.Ldr Joseph Lynch, he downed 3.5 Junkers Ju-52 transports in April, making him an Ace. This encounter also included the 1000th aircraft to be shot down by the Malta defenders. Extras used included Xtradecals, Eduard Canopy mask and Eduard etch for the cockpit. Paints are a mixture of Mr Paint (Dark Earth & Azure Blue) and Tamiya (XF-77 IJN grey). I wanted to depict a well worn example and so weathering comprises Abteilung oils, Tamiya pigments, AK pencils and dry brushing. The build thread is here The small collection so far: Thanks for looking. Dave 30

Greg Law
Excellent Malta Spitfire. You need to have a word to the Groundcrew to clean up the mess after refueling.

tonyot
Lovely model Dave,..... but Lynch`s Spitfire had a De Havilland prop, no Vokes filter, it had clipped wings, the later style windscreen with flat sides and it had a small T added to make the code T-NT. I did my own model with blue uppers and Azure Blue codes,.... but yours can just as easily be correct or the aircraft even repainted and worn both schemes! Just to prove that I`m not just being shitty,.... here are a few pics; The famous photo,..... the original kill tally included German and Italian kills but was re painted with crosses and the famous name was chalked underneath,..... all for the press! And after it was sent to Egypt for overhaul, it had a Vokes filter and full span wingtips fitted, was re painted in the Day Fighter Scheme and the Malta`s 1,000th name was also painted on along with a swastika; Here is some decent artwork,....note what I said about the scheme earlier,...... who knows for sure,....I know I don`t? Sorry again mate,..... I`ve not done this to be shitty in any way,.... if you want me to delete this then no worries. DaveJL
Ah well, too late now! I went with what both the Xtradecal and Osprey book said.
