Plumbum
Here's a small build to work on in between puttying and painting my other 1/48 builds. This is a Cuban Mig-17F Fresco C. I am using my 1/72 DML Jian Ji5 as a donor kit and Aztec decals for Cuban Raiders DAAFAR red 101.---John

Guest
Cockpit inserted into forward fuselage, nice tight fit, no gaps. It's small!---John
John Masters
That looks like a decent -17 kit. I am looking forward to the Cuban look!
Guest
Me too. I have 4 grams of lead in the nose. I also added the rear fuselage section with after burner nozzle. I was going to do the Airfix Mig-17F but it has the non after burning engine, not correct for my version.---John
Guest
I cut a piece of card stock to shape and put it in the fuselage intake to block the view of the nose weight. I then added the splitter, nose ring and lower landing gear-gun panel. I need to putty the nose ring and bottom gear-gun panel then I can sand and add the wings.---John
Guest
I filled and sanded the fuselage then added the guns to the bottom. I decided to try Revell's Contacta glue as I have seen it used many times on You Tube model builds. Funny thing is when I started models in the early 60s my first glue was Revell in the yellow tube, then moved on to Testors orange tube for 45 plus years and recently this year discovered Tamiya and Tamiya thin. I bought this mini bottle to try and so far I am liking the pin point accuracy of the stainless steel tube. On to install the wings.---John
Guest
Here is the old Revell tube at 15 cents. I paid 15 dollars for the Revell Contacta mini but that was with shipping from the Netherlands. Guess there has been a lot of inflation since 1963.---John
Guest
The wings, tail and stabs are on, puttied and sanded. Just about ready to mask and paint.---John
Guest
I have the drop tanks on and the canopy pieces glued together but not glued on the fuselage yet.---John
DennisTheBear
Looking very nice! It'll look outstanding in Cuban livery. DennisTheBear
Guest
I have the steel color painted on the air brakes and blast panel under the nose by the machine gun barrels and the overall aircraft Tamiya silver leaf. Still need to paint the burner can and wing tip lights then add the wheels and decals.---John
Guest
I have the gear on and it's on it's feet. There is about half a dozen small parts then I can decal.---John
Guest
Done, here's a few preview images. I will take better ones in a few days. I found it odd that Aztec only called out for 6 decals....3 each side of fuselage and none on the wings. It's a good sized decal sheet with lots of different Cuban Migs.---John
