reggie78usmc
This Tamiya 1/48 F-14A was an absolute joy to build. I have nothing but praise for the engineering of this kit. The parts went together so well hardly any filler. I made a few mistakes that were my own. I have to say that it was stencil/decal intensive but otherwise it was awesome. I have already bought another "A" Kit and have a "D kit on standby. I also have the AMK Tomcat and I am wondering how that will build up. I am relatively new to the 1/48 scale realm but I do very much enjoy it and I am learning new things. I wanted to display the kit in flight because who doesn't love the way Tomcats look in flight! The build was pretty straight forward out of the box build and the only extras were the decals which came from CAMPRO. The "Seablur" base is from coastal kits which I cut down to make it fit. SAT69
Breathtaking model, wonderfully displayed. No way I can get tired of seeing finished Tamiya Tomcats!
Vlad
Breathtaking indeed. I don't care how "overdone" that scheme is, it's classic, iconic Tomcat and your usual high standard of build and paintowork plus the in-flight display with the blurred sea below just bring it to life perfectly.

markmcguire25
Really nice job. And I always dig the in flight displays! When I built mine, I noticed the gear doors weren't really engineered for gear up. How difficult was it to adapt the "gear-up" build? Mark a couple of modifications to the rear wheel doors and I glued the front wheel bay doors together to make one piece. I then cut it down some with a razor to make it fit. I stuffed the wheel wells with cotton to reinforce the parts. I also used Vallejo plastic putty to close up some bigger seam lines. all of this was done prior to paint. wasnt perfect but it was close enough
Sleepwalker
Great display idea and the kit itself. It is very rare to see airplane models shown in flight.

Inshala
Very nice indeed, built this kit last year and have the D as my next build. Makes me think of the Final Countdown and the flyover of the senators boat!
