Hawker Hunter F.6

Well, that's the silver/aluminium/shiny grey underside masked off.

And the first camo colour (dark sea grey) sprayed on the topside.

And yes I know, I've sprayed over the unmasked canopy, but Airfix provide two. One for closed, see above and one for open, I've masked the open one and will be sprayed 'off plane'.

Also, I've ordered some camo masks which I will use to cover up the grey, when I spray the green pattern. I used something similar on a previous build and as long as I remember to really press them into panel lines, they work well.

So not much will happen for the rest of the weekend, but hopefully the camo mask will arrive on Monday. It does mean the grey paint will have time to harden off.

Camo masks arrived today. WHAT a pain these were to fit, the previous ones I've used were arranged on the backing paper, in the shape of the aircraft. These appear to be in a random arrangement on the backing paper. I'll put a picture of the instructions below and you'll see what I mean.

Anyway, finally got them fitted and pressed well down.

Next came the paint, a few light coats to, hopefully, seal the masks edges and then a couple of thicker coats.

Masking removed and on the whole a good result with minimal bleed under the masks on a couple of panel lines. Nothing a bit of grey paint won't cure.

I think it looks ok.

So, tomorrows task will be to give it a coat of floor shine, in preparation for the application of the decals, of which there any many little ones.

Good Afternoon All.

Applied a couple of coats of floor shine in preparation for the decals. There are hundreds of the little so and so's, but I've done about half of them, hopefully finish them tomorrow and then on the last lap of installing the undercarriage. Then just some detail painting, a coat of varnish and it's done.

Don't look too closely at the one above, I put the decal on upside down. In my defence, I could hardly see the thing and it is practically unreadable with the naked eye.

Afternoon.

Decals finished, undercarriage and airbrake fitted.

And a final coat of varnish.

Done.

I'll post more photos in 'Ready for Inspection.

What to build next though ?????
