vytautas
Dragon kit (Dragon 6857): I added some missing details: 1) lever, pedals, spar on the floor 2) wiring installation tube I also made cable plugs and handles and making holes in radio rack dampers for radio hardware I added some missing bolts, sanding the left wall of the engine compartment to the real thickness (I want to make the engine compartment open), crumpled fenders and muffler. The details are glued into separate blocks that will be painted separately: Vytautas Edited October 29, 2020 by vytautas
Redcoat2966
Nice build so far......right up my alley. There was a nice Voyager upgrade set on Ebay recently and tempted to pick it up and add this kit to the stash for another time. Been eyeing one up for some time, as I've built the second version Grille. Nice clean build......nice attention to detail.... Regards Simon.

robw_uk
very nice... quick one, how do you put photos on Scalemates? only ever seen that as something I go to for research
vytautas
Thanks! Steve, no, not primed there. Because I’m lazy, I don’t use primer robw_uk, I created a project and album on Scalemates for photos. Of course registration is required to do this. Redcoat2966
How did you do the dented exhaust Vytautas ?.......Just carve in the dents and then sand them smooth. Simon.
vytautas
A little more progress today. I added some wires and pipes to the engine (not all yet!) To make it easier to work, I connected the tanks with two beams on which I put the engine Vytautas Edited October 29, 2020 by vytautas
vytautas
Hi Simon, I glued a piece of plastic to the muffler, carved wrinkles and then sand them smooth: I usually use such tools for carving: I really like carving . Here are my unfinished projects: Pz.38 and Jagdpanther Regards, Vytautas Edited July 2, 2020 by vytautas
robw_uk
that carving technique is brilliant.... is there any way you could do a step-by-step with photos?
vytautas
Sorry robw_uk, at this time I don't have any photos of the process, just the result Vytautas

vytautas
robw_uk I used the extra plastic only for the muffler. In other cases, since I did not need high relief, the thickness of the existing model part was sufficient to create a crumpled view. vytautas
Hi, I made from scratch the floor of the fighting compartment (for some reason, Dragon did not provide that) Then I combined the cannon base, floor, and gearbox shaft into one block: I made several pipes (or wires?) and connected to the gearbox: Edited July 11, 2021 by vytautas
vytautas
I started painting the gearbox and engine (Model Master metallics): Edited July 11, 2021 by vytautas

vytautas
Painting began! I used Model Master metallizers, chipping fluid, Tamiya acrylic, oil paints, watercolor pencils and pigments. In this case, I didn't use a primer or varnish. Edited July 10, 2020 by vytautas
vytautas
I've got a little update to share. Although the Dragon model is good, it lacks a lot of detail. I made a commander's headset connection box with a tube for the cable, and another bigger box (I don't know what it is) MP40 ammunition pouches. One is already carved, the second is waiting inline . Longbow
Very nice work !! I see they have the correct 6 magazine ammunition pouches for the MP. Love the carving !!

Redcoat2966
Looking nice, having a tough time keeping up with the build as I get a grey panel with a question mark in the middle of half the images....not sure what that means, not sure if I have a problem at this end. ........but what I can see the carving is a really nice way of using the it part to show damage. Sometimes the PE sets for curved fenders etc are a nightmare to do.....then adding dents deforms them and fall apart......so might give this a try on my Bergepanther. Is that beautiful engine going to lost in the build, if so a real shame that....hopefully open hatch's would be a nice feature.... Enjoyable to follow. Cheers Simon.
edjbartos
Beautiful work so far, your attention to detail is first class, the engine looks really amazing, fabulous detail, looking forward to your next update Ed
