AliGauld Posted September 12, 2020 Share Posted September 12, 2020 Hi there, When I threw my Arma Hurricane together I didn't gloss coat after the transfers were put on as I wanted to get it to the wee fella before he went off on holiday, so it got a blast of W&N Matt varnish and the transfers came out beautifully flat. I come back to modelling (and BM) after I don't know how many months, decide that I should really finish off the two Arma Hurris that were part-finished when I started the break, and behold! Here's Ced, magnificently building two of his own and then throwing in a third for good measure. Daughter #1 is expecting our first grandchild in early October (not long now) and we're making sure we're ready and able to support them. Molly is still suffering a bit so we're going through another round of antibiotics for her infected glands (ugh). Other than that Mrs B and I are keeping our heads down… Like many we're wondering when (or perhaps if) we should relax our restrictions, self imposed though they may be. We've planned a couple of lunches with other couples in restaurants that we trust to be trying their best and, now that the sun has chosen to come back, may get some more use out of the parasol by having a couple of friends for coffee in the garden. Tricky though. The pressure to 'socialise' seems to be increasing and a couple of my groups have been leaning towards physical gatherings again. My science group though is still guiding me - the virus hasn't changed and relaxation seems to bring the numbers back - I hear France is on the up again… For me, I want to stay safe - I'm still reluctant to end up on a ventilator - and 'I told you so' is not a phrase I want to become my epitaph! Weird it is - although I AM perfecting my loafing about… I do remember you and Bill explaining that silvering was micro-bubbles of air caused by a rough surface and that gloss varnish fills the holes. Part of that was medical issues on my part, but part was just being sensible. If we didn’t need to leave the house, we didn’t. That said, I have ventured to the supermarket. Getting used to cleaning everything and wearing a mask. It’s a minor inconvenience when all is said and done. Anyway, this is all a bit depressing. We get most of our shopping from a local Carrefour Drive, you order it on line and pick it up at a designated spot in the car park, avoiding having to go inside. We have been to lunch at a local restaurant twice but stopped before the tourists and holiday home bunch arrived, we might start again in the Autumn but the infection rate in France generally is very high at the moment, although not so much in rural areas. Our biggest concern is that there have been several attacks on horses lately and our farrier who is also a friend lost one of his a couple of weeks ago, so we have been taking extra precautions, and staying home even more. Makes you realise how easy it is to get sloppy when no-one sees you… I had a shave and everything. This morning I've attacked the hair with the trimmer again - No. 4 all over. Do not try to do the back of your head using a mirror held up to the mirror. It'll make you dizzy. I also got a small amount of mojo: One nearly done. I've decided to finish one so that I have it ready in case I get some glueing mojo. Yep sometimes it's better to finish one after another. Saves the mojo, I think. I have several ones here openend and partially near finished and some of them were painted for more than one year ago as I try and have to do the paint jobs outside on my balcony with reasonable weather conditions. But the dark season will rip my mojo more again now and to avoid a winter blues I like to enjoy the sunny autuum/winter days outside instead of modelling inside. Corona this year also influenced my/the general feelings you usually have in spring then. Sadly, but not letting it to get me down here.
