Very strategically placed but l👀k at all those wonderful tools. 😇 nice to have you back in action Mr B.  By the way rule number one: Never leave the lid off your micro set. Ask me how I know. 😱😂😫

Johnny

Thanks Johnny :)  No worries - I finished that bottle, moved the numbered top to the new one and washed out the bottle; you never know when it might come in!

Thanks Mark :)

A little mojo arrived this morning:

Purposely tilted to show how shiny the transfers are and avoid silvering comments (fat chance).

Honest, the roundels are just the same:

might get some more done later…

Perhaps if you gloss coat it now, then flat coat it ( W&N Galleria ) the film might disappear, just a suggestion.

Good to see you back. Hope you and the family are all well.

John

The decals are very glossy when applied, I too was a little concerned but after a flat coat they look amazing, they are some of the best decals I’ve used.

Hi there,

When I threw my Arma Hurricane together I didn't gloss coat after the transfers were put on as I wanted to get it to the wee fella before he went off on holiday, so it got a blast of W&N Matt varnish and the transfers came out beautifully flat.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Alistair

Goodness me. I come back to modelling (and BM) after I don't know how many months, decide that I should really finish off the two Arma Hurris that were part-finished when I started the break, and behold! Here's Ced, magnificently building two of his own and then throwing in a third for good measure. Mine are being decalled, and I have found the decals to be magnificent, settling very nicely indeed with some MicroSol/Set.

They are looking good with the transfers on Ced, hope they settle well for you! I never used to gloss coat and now I do and it’s a bit of a pain in the.... maybe I will go back to no gloss, but maybe after I see these finished....

hope all well your end?

All well here thanks in this weird time.

Daughter #1 is expecting our first grandchild in early October (not long now) and we're making sure we're ready and able to support them.

Molly is still suffering a bit so we're going through another round of antibiotics for her infected glands (ugh).

Other than that Mrs B and I are keeping our heads down…

Like many we're wondering when (or perhaps if) we should relax our restrictions, self imposed though they may be.

We've planned a couple of lunches with other couples in restaurants that we trust to be trying their best and, now that the sun has chosen to come back, may get some more use out of the parasol by having a couple of friends for coffee in the garden.

Tricky though.

The pressure to 'socialise' seems to be increasing and a couple of my groups have been leaning towards physical gatherings again. My science group though is still guiding me - the virus hasn't changed and relaxation seems to bring the numbers back - I hear France is on the up again…

For me, I want to stay safe - I'm still reluctant to end up on a ventilator - and 'I told you so' is not a phrase I want to become my epitaph!

Oooh, sorry, that was a bit serious… perhaps an emoji will lighten the mood :D

I'll go with your suggestions and, if there's still some shine, will hit them with some DullCote!

I'm lazy, that's the problem.

I did think a couple of times 'You're not doing anything else so you could squirt some gloss on those' but then to mojo shrank again.

Weird it is - although I AM perfecting my loafing about…

I do remember you and Bill explaining that silvering was micro-bubbles of air caused by a rough surface and that gloss varnish fills the holes.

See, I do hear you, even if I don't always listen…

I justify my laziness by remembering that Colourcoats is so smooooooth and may let me get away with it!

I'm with you - gloss when it's not smooth, risk it when it is. Is that a new rule?

Backgammon this morning.

Transfers (maybe) later.

Oh don't worry Ced, I perfected that art many years ago! And TBF, even with your loss of mojo you've done more than me these last few weeks. So I guess our mojos must be social distancing together somewhere....!! Hopefully given the other's experiences they'll look fine after matt coat - have to say I don't ever recall seeing such shiny transfers other than on a race car model!

I think you're very wise to maintain distancing, as difficult as it has become, both from the perspective of personal mental health (I've been stir crazy from time to time) and from pressure from others to meet up. The watchwords are still "stay safe"!

Take care out there!

Smart words Mr Ced, it is a shame more of the drongos out there don't embrace them, they're so hell bent to get back to the "new" normal without realising the implications there of. Sounds like you do. Keep it up.

or you could brush some Klear or similar on, no setting up, no cleaning up after other than washing a brush out in water. A great something to do when the mojo ain't playing. :)

Best Beloved and I have been staying safe since early March. Part of that was medical issues on my part, but part was just being sensible. If we didn’t need to leave the house, we didn’t.

That said, I have ventured to the supermarket. Getting used to cleaning everything and wearing a mask. It’s a minor inconvenience when all is said and done.

Anyway, this is all a bit depressing. I’m going to cuddle the cat for a bit. :cat:

We’re not taking any chances either. We get most of our shopping from a local Carrefour Drive, you order it on line and pick it up at a designated spot in the car park, avoiding having to go inside. We have been to lunch at a local restaurant twice but stopped before the tourists and holiday home bunch arrived, we might start again in the Autumn but the infection rate in France generally is very high at the moment, although not so much in rural areas. Our biggest concern is that there have been several attacks on horses lately and our farrier who is also a friend lost one of his a couple of weeks ago, so we have been taking extra precautions, and staying home even more. Still, we’ve got the dogs to cuddle so it’s not all bad.

Airbrushing this afternoon.

John

PS give Molly a hug from me.

I should have phrased my question better, I meant to ask if the attacks were from other animals or from humans - but you've answered that, it's animals in the form of humans.....

Mols went to the vet yesterday and 'her problem' seems to be clearing up on the new antibiotics :fingerscrossed:

Thanks Steve - taking great care here and hoping our daughter giving birth (in about two weeks) doesn't coincide with another lock down :(

I should point out that Best Beloved is retired and I work from home, so the need to leave the premises is rare most of the time. There are those who don’t have this luxury, and I am aware of that.

Same here Heather although we're lucky to get food deliveries.

Give the cat a stroke for me :D

Wise people indeed.

Sorry to hear about the attacks John - what is wrong with some people! :(

I hope they catch them soon.

Thanks Johnny - I first read that as 'nice décolletage' and adjusted my clothing accordingly :D

I've had a couple of semi-official Zooms recently mostly interviewing new Scout volunteers. Makes you realise how easy it is to get sloppy when no-one sees you…

I had a shave and everything.

This morning I've attacked the hair with the trimmer again - No. 4 all over.

Do not try to do the back of your head using a mirror held up to the mirror. It'll make you dizzy.

I also got a small amount of mojo:

50355490241_47a88808a5_z.jpg

One nearly done.

I've decided to finish one so that I have it ready in case I get some glueing mojo.

Pathetic progress for me - I mean, hendie's almost finished his…

I need to get a grip (fnaar!) :D

Hello Ced. Yep sometimes it's better to finish one after another. Saves the mojo, I think. I have several ones here openend and   partially near finished and some of them were painted for more than one year ago as I try  and have to do the paint jobs outside on my balcony with reasonable weather conditions.  But the dark season will rip my mojo more again now and to avoid a winter blues I like to enjoy the sunny autuum/winter days outside instead of modelling inside. Corona this year also influenced my/the general feelings you usually  have in spring then. Sadly, but not letting it to get me down here.

Cheers Benedikt
