There should be an email from Airfix saying Welcome to the (whatever club package you bought). This has your membership number in it.

Thanks for that - I did not get an e-mail, that is probably because I mistyped the e-mail in my order/registration and changed it later.

many Flying Hours tokens awaiting liberation.

ditto for me - I will make the £20 (standard inc p&p) back on the tokens I have outstanding - renewal will probably depend on  the quality of the magazine. I certainly have no interest in tin boxes.

I managed to get the Pro membership around 1pm-ish on Friday.  I don't think I was in time for the freebie however.

One thing I wanted to know though, has everyone paid for delivery?

Kind Regards,

Dazz

I got the email welcoming me to the Club on Friday 12:13PM.

It had my membership number and I was able to access Club pages straight away.

I paid £4.98 for delivery and ordered some paint as well but it looks like my order is still being processed.

Maybe Plus orders with Kate are taking longer to process?

I got my welcome e-mail at about the same time, but whatever I do I can't get into the club pages which is annoying me greatly .

As regards delivery , I also paid £4.98 postage and have just had an e-mail telling me my parcel will be delivered tomorrow.  Since it's coming via DPD , however , I'm not holding my breath .

Oh dear. We seem to be suffering from "deleted-post-for-no-sensible-reason" syndrome again. Any comments please, @Julien or @Mike ???

Oh dear, we seem to be suffering from condescending attitude problems again.  Why not just PM us if you think your post has been removed (at a guess).  There are no "I'm considerably more intelligent than yau" points to be scored that way I suppose. :dull:

PM incoming.

Well my club box arrived this morning.  The Kate model is the same as the normal boxing just with a different decal sheet printed by Kits-World. Which I'm happy about as it's supporting a local (British) company, I could even enter it into the "Journeys End" GB. I also appear to be one of the lucky ones and received the Airfix book - it is quite literally a list.

The reason I asked about shipping was because I got shipping for free even though I was no where near the £50 limit. Just lucky I guess.

Kind Regards,

Dazz

My club membership pack arrived this morning by DPD

Nice big box

DSC04204

containing

DSC04205

and then

DSC04206

Just a folder and a few sheets of A4 + passport & trolley token.

Crucially no membership card so no membership number for the passport.

I did actually read the welcome letter which states your card will arrive within 28 days and the first Magazine will be in September.

Tried to access https://www.airfix.com/uk-en/club-portal-airfix only to be denied access - have emailed the Hornby club team and await reply

I  received my box this morning, it stated that the membership card would arrive separately in the next 28 days.

Was the cardboard box you received it in double ended? Mine was, so I opened the other end to get a nice surprise....

When I went to buy my membership it automatically added the £4.98 but there were two 'buttons', one for free postage which I of course clicked on and got free postage.

My box arrived via DPD yesterday, after 3 days of text messages from DPD telling me when it would be delivered, ie yesterday between 13.40 and 14.40. ata was 13.44

You should have got your membership in an email. I got mine faster than a paypal receipt, about 30 seconds, literally, after I paid.

I've been trying to sign up for a week now. First out of stock, then I got an email to say back in stock but was at my work so by the time I got home out of stock again.

Now 404 error I think the universe is trying to tell me something.

Cheers,

Alistair

Likewise I ordered mine early Friday afternoon and am expecting delivery around teatime today , don't know about the freebie yet obviously although there was a second code (FREE - Airfix Plus Club Only  A73013PLUS) with no charge showing on the order summary.    My only purchase was the membership and while shipping was added during the checkout process it was then taken back off as a discount in my final bill.

Maybe the free shipping is a bonus to ex members? The Kate is number "A73012". Maybe the "A73013" is the book freebie? I haven't received anything else in my box and I had the A73013 on my order form too.

Kind Regards,

Well, I got the option for free postage or £4.95, so chose free to see what would happen. Still 'in processing', and still no access, but on the plus side they've also still not taken the payment from my account. So, mystified.

Ordered the normal membership - also picked free postage and a box arrived.  Feel a bit bad as I thought it would be an envelope, not a big box. Happy to support Airfix, and will also cover cost of membership with Flying Hours redeemed.  Also, Airfix where honouring Flying Club redemption while the Club was in limbo, so felt I owed them for that.

Have demolished the box!!! and now I feel cheated as nothing extra! What of I don't know

I do not recall the free postage option on my order so perhaps the suggestion that previous members were only offered this is correct,

Paul.

Payment has now been taken. Still the same though, when I log in it says checkout the new club offers, and when I try to I get 'access restricted to club members only'. I'm assuming this is just teething troubles and am only teling you lot to make myself feel better I suppose - I will contact them if nothing changes in a week.

Both ends had a red box in!  2 for the price of one.

As I remember it, when I ordered it free postage was in the offer, it wasn't an option as such.

Arrived this evening as expected and the kit /artist listing brochure was included , order had been placed about 1400 last Friday.

I placed my order about 1pm on the day that the club relaunched - I thought I had a problem in that when I got to the payment page, it didn't respond when I clicked on the appropriate button - and seemed to hang saying processing.

However... I received a confirmation email within an hour or so, and the payment showed as pending in my bank account - so all well and good.

Friday just gone (03/07/2020) I received an email advising that delivery of my Hornby Hobbies parcel would be on Monday 06/07 by DPD. Well today this little lot arrivedspacer.png

And it would seem that I was one of the lucky first 1000 new members as I have received the book!

(mind you, lucky the kit is still in one piece, DPD did a Hermes and chucked it over a 7ft fence onto a concrete path as we didn't respond to the doorbell quickly enough - within 10 seconds!!!!!!! Both of us upstairs working at the time)

How so?  Perhaps you'd like to clarify that.

Reading the background of their colour scheme choices on the Airfix website, they have gone for aircraft '302' based out of Rabaul at the end of the war. It last flight was under escort of American fighters to Jacquinot Bay in PNG in October 1945. There are two pictures of this plane, one taken while being prepped for this ferry flight and one after it was left at it's destination, thus I can tell you that their colour scheme in white with surrender crosses is 100% fiction. This is also the aircraft whose remains are now at the Pacific Aviation Museum. However, there was one Kate painted in surrender markings, so if you want a genuine aircraft, just delete the green cross on the tail and add a small black '2' to the rudder on both sides. You will also need a spinner, not sure if the kit includes this.

I think they have taken the scheme from "The Nakajima B5N Kate" by Dr M.F. Hawkins, Profile Publications Profile No. 141. There is an artists impression of this aircraft there, but I don't know if there are any pictures as I don't have this book. If there is a fiction, it lies in that book.    I have seen a picture, which is in the Bill Pippin Collection, of a Kate without the green cross on the tail, but the number seems clearly to be a "1" to me. Can't see a spinner on the picture due to the angle of the aircraft to the camera, but if one is required there is one in the kit (always assuming it is a Kate spinner, as on the other scheme, the Technical Air Intelligence example, Airfix note that it had a Zero spinner!).
