neil5208
Good afternoon all, my entry is Revell's MV22 Osprey which I intend to build as one of Bells V22 demonstrator aircraft as the kit is not close enough to the MV22 detail wise. I had started this just before I saw the group build but its only 5% done, onto the kit. Slight panel gap here! And what I'll be going for, have to make my own decals should be a good learning experience.
JOCKNEY
Great choice I have to confess I'd forgotten about this one ! Good luck Cheers Pat
Hockeyboy76
Nice choice. I built this as a WHIF in a previous GB.
Romeo Alpha Yankee
I like those prototype/demo schemes. Adds a lot of colour to the GB. I have a couple of the Hasegawa kits to finish one day
Jb65rams
Nice choice. I am hoping to enter a Hasegawa kit into this GB.
neil5208
At least the Hasegawa kit is based on the preproduction trials aircraft and not the prototypes
neil5208
So I jumped right in this afternoon and got quite far before I took any pictures, I think this will be one of those kits that looks it will take some time but falls together. Ignore the blue circles, I didn't think they were on the prototype but after checking pictures they are there. Even got a reasonable fit of the tail ramp.

Col.
You're off to a good start with it and I'm looking forward to watching you model it in the prototype scheme
neil5208
I would have liked to do one of the Ospreys based at Bastion in 2011 but I couldn't find any reference of which aircraft were there at that time and as I found out the Revell kit is based on the early prototypes before Bell received DOD backing so prototype it is. And the item circled in blue in post 7 are only on the prototypes not production aircraft. Edited June 29, 2020 by neil5208
neil5208
Its a Revell! let the filling begin. Another model that needs sheets of sand paper unlike the Special Hobby Cobra I've almost finished.
Col.
Hopefully this one won't take too many rounds of the Fill, Sand, Repeat game.

neil5208
1st round of filling and sanding done and its easier than feared, but as this one will be gloss white I sure seams will need more sanding once painting starts. As the sanding went so well last night I stuck the horizontal surfaces on to finish the evenings work. More gaps, ready for round 2 of filling. Romeo Alpha Yankee
Looks good Neil, With a gloss white finish I would recommend priming so you don't have different shade patches under the with from the puttied areas (ask me how a know ).
neil5208
Moved onto the engine nacelles last night and was quite impressed with Revell's engineering on these parts, 4 parts held together with no glue and allows rotation too.
stevej60
Excellent progress Neil, just been looking at a video of these at the mach loop in Wales, awesome! I think the pilot in the hover might have been "showboating" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7VXVE3oh_E

Lifeline
Great progress... And your effort for the gaps is far better than mine. Anyway.. it's not originally Revell; https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-03964-mv-22-osprey--957669 Cheers, Mario
neil5208
Some more work on the Osprey, seats and canopy on, sanding of filler done and engine pods test fitted. The canopy fit is not to great so the white glue will be in use there, but the other filler work has come out well so far. Had to crack the nose to get a better fit of the canopy Engine test fit, once the blades are on its going to be to big for my display case. some more work needed on this seam. Tail joint is good. Just checked for size, it will be to large with just the engines on let alone the blades.
neil5208
Masked the canopy up and sprayed the interior black colour which was easier than most of the recent kits done. Also sprayed over the joints and filler to check for more work but it looks good at this stage but when the gloss white is sprayed that will show any short comings/
neil5208
Primer on tonight, build pace will slow down as I have work to do in the back garden.
