MarkSH
Airfix 1/72 Northrop P-61 Black Widow 'Lady in the Dark' Here is a recent completion for the ongoing 'A kit I built as a kid' Group Build, Airfix's venerable Black Widow, originally released in 1967, this is the 1986 boxing, but I would imagine I built it first sometime around the mid-70s. Built out of the box with some scratched details for the front and rear 'offices' and some left over Lancaster resin gun barrels for the top turret. I used AK's Worn Effects solution to get the chipped and worn paint look. Decals are by Printscale. The model is weathered only with weathering powder this time: The build thread is here: I very much enjoyed revisiting an old model that I can still see hanging from my bedroom ceiling very clearly in my mind's eye. Thanks for looking, as always comments, observations etc. more than welcome. Cheers, Mark. 46
occa
That's an amazing result form that old kit and the red spinner and the cowling flaps really add interest

Spitfire31
You must've blown some pixie dust, mixed in with the weathering stuff, on that old kit to make it look so good! Kind regards, Joachim

Aces High
That's a very fine airplane you've built. It certainly doesn't look like it was such a venerable kit in there!
Sky Keg
Very nice Mark especially with the dated molds of the kit. Mike
Mark Joyce
Nicely done, Mark, on the old kit. The weathering effect looks great. I checked out the build thread and saw how much work you put into dressing up the interior. Cheers, Mark

MarkSH
Thanks all for the comments. Despite the age of the molds it was still an enjoyable build, but it has given me a hankering to try a 1/48 version.
JWM
You've proved that this old kit can be converted into modern distinct model! Very nice build. Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
ColinChipmunkfan
That is odd Mark - it hung from my ceiling as well. A good job on an old kit, well done.
F-32
Very nicely done, I've never made this one but it looks like it's stood the test of time fairly well
