flashlight
Hi everybody, at last some progress here too. The little vehicle got a base coat of dark green. A day later I did some modulation of the colour with a lightened base dark green to break the monotony and give the vehicle a worn look. This is the current status. It looks a bit odd, the flash intensifies the effect, in reality the contrast is not as big. It'll be toned down anyway by weathering and filter and the like. Next will be gloss coat and decals. Thanks for looking! Have a nice day Nick
flashlight
Hi all, glad to show you some progress here too. What has been done; not very much in fact. Gloss coat - decals - gloss coat. This is the current status, I let it cure for a while. I think that the decals are a bit too big, I had to cut down the b/w stripes at the rear to get them there. Next will be washes, weathering, matte coat etc. Thanks for looking! All comments are welcome.
Bullbasket
It looks great Nick. I remember them well, minus the turret though. John.
flashlight
@Bullbasket Thank you very much, John! I am not sure, but I think I remember that in a very old James Bond movie a Saracen played a role as the villain's ultra modern fighting vehicle. Or was it a new gadget invented by "C"?
flashlight
Hi everybody, sorry that you had to wait so long for some progress. Plenty of work and very nice weather kept me away from the workbench for some time, I only managed to proceed bit by bit. So I added all the small parts, that were still left, added a brown wash, matte coat, then finished and added the wheels and started weathering. During this process the vehice fell down to the floor with all the small parts jumping off somewhere. Oh well... after some time spent searching the whole room I could find all the small parts again except one rear view mirror which remained only the carpet monster knows where. After putting everything together again, and adding a little dust the model looks like this now. It's nearly finished now, I only have to scratch build one rear view mirror. The wheels were quite tricky to attach, but after all every wheel touches the ground. For the dust effect I applied gray Flory Wash. It will appear in the RFI section after I scratched the rear view mirror. Thanks for looking, any comments are welccom! Stay safe!
Vaastav
Wow. Great work and a worthy second to the Gaz Tiger. Very smart
Courageous
Good work. Pity about the 'drop' but these things do happen. A wing mirror is both easy to leave off as I should image that sort of damage happens in the real world and scratching a replacement should be easy enough. flashlight
@Vaastav Thank you very much for your kind words! @Courageous Hi Stuart, thank you also for the nice comment. It's doesn't seem to be very difficult to scratch build the rear view mirror, if only I could find the time.
Dads203
That’s turned out really well indeed, it could easily pass off for a 1/35 scale build 1
flashlight
@Dads203 Hi Dads, thank you very much for your very kind words. I am not quite happy with it, especially my weathering skills need some (actually a lot!) improvement.
Terry1954
That is a very fine result. Your weathering skills seem pretty good from where I'm standing! Terry
flashlight
@Terry1954 Hi Terry, thank you for your kind words. I always have the problem of either doing too much or not enough, I feel that I never do it right. There's still a lot of practice needed.
