My entry to the group build, my first piece of 1/35th armour in over thirty years :) It will be oob, no PE no aftermarket, but I’ll try to do a serious job of camo and weathering. Still haven’t entirely decided on the scheme yet but will probably be a winter one.

That box art stirs up memories. 35 years ago Tamiya tanks were the models of choice for this 15 year old kid.

Hull assembled and running gear sprayed with a lidl silver gray and humbrol  aluminium  rattle cans to give me something to chip down to.

hairspray next. I’ll do the turret as a separate sub assembly.

Unless the instructions have changed be aware that with the driver's hatch shut at least one of the covers over the viewing ports needs to be open. If not the Comrade Driver Ivan can't see anything. I'll be watching to learn this painting malarkey. Most of my models don't get that far! :)

Good luck with the build.

Made up a mix for the 4B0, apparently FS34257 is the colour, a tiny bit lighter but I’m happy with that. I’m going to try some modulation so I’ll mix both lighter and darker shades for this.

I have also watched lots of weathering videos. Need to get hold of some hairspray next.

Hairspray applied (a faint perfume, but  I think it smells nice :) ) and a lot more assembly, more or less ready for camo, or I could just stop now and claim it was part of the defence of Leningrad :)  ( or should it be coated in red lead primer  ?)

Main colour on the hull. I’ve gone lighter by adding more yellow green and darker by adding German grey. I’ve also painted the turret and toad wheels. Assembly time once its thoroughly dry.

The turret added on and painted. Road wheels next. The modulation is subtle but I’m pretty pleased with the result.

i was going to do winter camo but I think I’ll go with the green and just chop and weather what I’ve got.

Glad you went with the green it's come out very well indeed.

The bare metal tanks in Leningrad (or Stalingrad) are a persistent myth. Leningrad were very active in rebuilding tanks and adding armour and paint was available for the limited amount needed. The paint may have been patchy if applied by an inexperienced Comrade but I've found nothing that screams unpainted to me. You have done very well with the effect to break up the monotone. It looks pretty good to me.

Yes I’m very pleased with the results so far. I was going to do a winter camo but the green is so nice I’m going to leave it. But I still need to do some chipping, rust, grime and mud, will be fun.

And grime added, not entirely sure of its too dirty, but it does look well irl. The nice thing about the AK grime etc is you can clean it back with white spirit where it’s gone on too thick.

Tools and tree trunks painted with oils and attached, I think that’s everything. Mud and dust are the only things left.

Some mud. First a mix of brown acrylics and dissolved newspaper, then some crushed chalk pastels applied before the mud dries to represent fresher mud. Hopefully looks like a working T34 not too dirty but lived in. I’m very pleased with the result. Now into my T55A
