Would be great to see any updates Hi Mikey, Not yet. But during last few days I made some progress and I will post here soon. Strangely I haven't seen your post till this weekend. Most probably I haven't set the notifications correctly 🤔 Serkan
Serkan Sen
After a long break I did some progress. The first modification I did was to shorten main landing gear axle hence the wheels were too away from the landing gear assembly: The pylons were taken from Revell/Zvezda Su-27SM kit and placed as seen below: The main weapon bay doors were built using 0.5mm styrene card: The rear bay doors were built by joining original fwd and aft bay doors. The MLG bay doors were done using styrene card: Here are the doors at their positions: Next step is to coat these parts with primer and prepare paint masks... Serkan Sen
The new parts were coated with primer and the canopy parts were glued, masked and the entire aircraft was painted to light ghost gray: Also the paint mask artwork is ready to cut the vinyl masks: Serkan

I made the vinyl masks using cutter/plotter and masked the areas which will be light ghost gray: And then I have painted the entire aircraft to gunship gray: Next step is to mask dark gray patches and apply last color... Serkan Sen
The gunship gray areas were masked: And the entire aircraft was painted to Flanker blue/gray: Next step is to remove all masks and see the result... 🤔 Serkan
Serkan Sen
All the masks have been removed and here is the result: There are some areas to be touched up due to lifted off mask edges at highly curved surfaces and peel off paint. But in overall I must admit that the camouflage looks really eye catching even more than I was expecting... Serkan

Nice work, super camo, this plane is really very interesting. In the future, I think I will try to create a J-14 with parts of J-10B 1/48 + parts of J-20 1/72 + airframe thermoformed with a wood master ... Or...I will buy a 3D printer for the parts 🙂 For the moment, i need to start one of my "super Flanker" 😉

If you somehow draw or get a 3D model I can gladly help you to print it. 1
Serkan Sen
I have two F-19 kits which can be built as the counterparts of this model 😁 One of them is this model from Testors (nicely built by David Aungst and photo from Hyperscale web site) The other version is this one from Monogram: (photo from fantastic-plastic.com) Serkan
Neffan
Hi Serkan, this f-19 kit is very interesting. Regarding the J-14, I bought a Basic model on shapeways.com: https://www.shapeways.com/product/84GCJV865/shenyang-j-14 I would have to be able to scan it (3D file) and then separate the parts to have them 3D printed at 1/72. Neffan Are you sure that you can scan the model from such tiny printed one? (I am assuming that you didn't invest around 200€ for 1:72 printed model...)
Neffan
lol, no I didn't buy the 1/72 -> I'm not crazy it is too expensive ... My model is not too small it's on the 1/144 scale. (photos) I prefer to scan and print at 1/72 to add a transparent canopy + other more realistic parts like: MLG, NLG, COCKPIT ...
Serkan Sen
How will you scan the surface? Do you have a laser scanner with rotating table? I am impatient to see your scan results... Serkan
Serkan Sen
All painted parts were coated with gloss coat and now ready for decals: The inner surface of speed brakes and landing gear doors were painted to red. I am a bit suspicious about the original kit decals hence they are more than 25 years old but we will see the result very soon... Serkan
Serkan Sen
As you may have already noticed from above pictures there are pair of R-60 (AA-8 Aphid) and KAB-500L for rear and forward internal bays respectively. Also for wing load out I will use pair of R-27 (AA-10 Alamo), R-77 (AA-12 Adder) and 4x R-73 (AA-11 Archer).
Neffan
At the moment, unfortunately I don't have a scanner. maybe in the future ... this MIG Ferret is really beautiful ... Congratulations for this job 👍

Serkan Sen
As I expected some of the original Ferret decals were broken into many pieces and they left a foggy background that I had to spend extra effort to clean them up. Also I have used the roundels, numbers and some stencils from the remaining Revell/Zvezda Su-27SM decal sheet. The result is as follows:
Serkan Sen
And some close views: In overall the decals and camouflage looks not so bad... Next step is to apply dull coat... Serkan
Serkan Sen
The dull coat applied after a second gloss coat to seal the decals: Next is to assemble all the parts to finish this build. This will be my first build in this forum in RFI section 🙂 Serkan
